My new 8 foot nylon whip from Rhett Kelley arrived this evening, and I found out the camera's batteries are dead
I can't wait to take her out and crack tomorrow, and then take a picture or two to post.
This is my first whip, and while it isn't leather, it has a good feel and should be quite durable.
From what I've read here, Rhett does good work, and I can definitely say this whip exceeded expectations.
Please pardon my lack of photographic skill. Also, the white that you see on the whip is the paraffin wax that Rhett soaks his whips in. I thought the whip was a bit stiff when I first tried to crack it, but, it seemed to loosen a bit after 5-10 minutes of attempting the cattleman's crack. I've got a lot of practicing and learning to do now.
here is a picture (with flash) of the whip sitting on my Magnoli MKVII w/ Wade Egan Raiders strap (non-distressed buckle)
Here is a picture of the whip (same pose as above but no flash)
Finally, here is a close up of the handle, natural light
Now to study all the cracking tutorials...

I've added pics
I knew someone would post this, I addressed the issue once the camera's battery was charged and I had some natural light.knibs7 wrote:I hate to do it, BUT... ;0

Thanks, I liked a post I saw where someone took a photograph of the Todd's pocketknife with the MKVII, so I borrowed that idea for these pictures.Jakob Emiliussen wrote: ... Nice whip, goes well with the MKVII...
I don't think the pictures gave indication as to how nice the Wade Egan strap really is.

Oh I think it does... There is clearly a difference in the buckle from the one I've got... My strap is from Todd's, and the buckle is flatter - I don't know which one is the most SA, but what the hey - look's allright to me!!Connecticut Jones wrote:Thanks, I liked a post I saw where someone took a photograph of the Todd's pocketknife with the MKVII, so I borrowed that idea for these pictures.Jakob Emiliussen wrote: ...
