I was thinking about all the vendors I've bought from and decided to note them down warning, it's a little scary.

nothing wrong with the Herbert Johnson from Magnoli Clothiers, but as price appears to be a great concern to you have you considered the dreaded Danish import dues when ordering outside the EU...

The Adventurebilt de Luxe from Marc is an expensive hat at Euros 399,-. That corresponds to about Danish Kroner 2990,-. But that's including shipping and delivered to your door with no extra surprises from the Danish Authorities.

When ordering from outside the EU, be it New Zealand or the United States you will pay:

Usd 340,- (hat)
Usd 20,- (shipping)
Usd 43,- (Customs dues about 12 % of hat + shipping)
Usd 100,- (Vat 25 % on hat + shipping + Customs Dues)
Usd 27,- (Danish Postal Authorities Fee for Customs Clearance)
Usd 530,- total

Usd 530,- corresponds to about Dkk 3180,- so the hat from the States which appears to be a budget friendly alternative to an AB de Luxe is in fact more expensive if you live in the wrong country

Just something to consider.

As an alternative have you thought about the Henry from Adventurebilt. Their "mass produced" hat. It's only Euros 179,- (Dkk 1350,-) including shipping. ;-)

Well I considered the price itself, 340$, and the 20$ shipping. I didn't think about much else besides adding 25% to it's total price, just to be sure. I would never have thought the final price could be as much as 530$... Are you sure that it will be that much?

Hmm, perhaps I should PM a few danes around here, there seems to be quite a few, and ask them what hat they orderd and why. Yes, I'll do that.

edit: Actually I have family in Australia (but only for 2 years), but perhaps I could send it to them and they could repackage the stuff and send it to me, that should make things a whole lot cheaper, the downside is that I cannot send the stuff back if it looks ugly or is broken, but I trust Magnoli, I could get them so send me pictures of the items before they send it to Denmark.
(The jacket will be orded through Wested, which isn't as far away as New Zealand

)

Well if you have family in Australia you have no problem Get the Magnoli hat routed via your family or a much cheaper alternative get an Akubra Federation IV from f.ex. http://www.hatsdirect.com/cgi-bin/produ ... turnpage=0 also routed via your family.

Btw my vendor's list is not long either:
