G&B to Wested Sleeve Conversion

Post by Tyrloch »

Is there a foolproof way to convert G&B's sleeve lengths to Wested's? I know what sleeve length is right for me when ordering from Wested, G&B's "over the shoulder" thing is a bit confusing. Can you take half of the shoulder measurement and subtract it from the sleeve length they give? I.e., on a 40R, they have it listed as 19" across the shoulders and 33" for the sleeves...1/2 of 19=8, 33-8=25. Would that make the sleeve length on a 40R 25" if measured the "Wested" way? Anyone have any better way of figuring this out? Thanks.

Also, they have a strange way of measuring the collar-waist -- they have it listed as 20" -- that sounds REALLY short compared to Wested, but I know it's really not...

I would not use a Wested for any measurements. They are two different jackets. Get yourself measured and let the people at G&B dicide your size. You can also have them send you a jacket for sizing purposes. Cheers

Rundquist,

Actually, I've owned both Wested as well as a G&B. But since selling it, I can't recall exactly where the sleeve fell on my hand/wrist. I just discovered that G&B offers a short size, which is 1" shorter in ther sleeve and collar-waist. Since I don't remember precisely where the other G&B 40R sleeve ended, I'm wondering if 1" shorter is just right or too short. I know for sure that even after I wrinkled up the sleeves, they were still a tad too long, but was it a full inch or only a half??

I believe that there is about an inch and a half difference between long and reg. I needed something inbetween and got a 3/4 inch difference in mine. One way to find out. Call them. Cheers

Actually, I did. The website states a 1" difference on the sleeves and a 1/2" difference (shorter) in the body. But on the phone, they told me it was a 1" difference on both. Good news is that the 40 Short is still returnable -- in case the sleeves are indeed too short...but I still appreciate the suggestion. :)
