I know members has showed Tony a picture saying I want a 100% copy of this pocket.and Tony delivered with piped edge and all
Thats not the point, he had That exact jacket ( so he claims) so it should not matter if its a request or not, he should have copied every detail, not improve the jacket.
I'm not quite sure what you're talking about... this pocket looks perfect to me:
i'm taking credit for the wavey zipper though so _, save me a chair at the gentlemen's club....first round is on you.....i'll pick up the bill when we move to the champagne room ;-)

My wife already thinks you guys are a bad influence.
BTW, I have a theory that the wavey zipper isn't because it was sewn in incorrectly, but because they jackets shrunk during distressing. I don't know. I'm making this up as I go.

i believe you are correct.....but to recreate that on a new jacket........ ;-)

too much factors to tweak if you want a wavey zipper from a new unshrunk jacket.....could get really hairry!!!! you go first!!!
Nope, the only way to pull it off perfectly is to shrink the jacket. You're a 42, right? You should go first, because if you shrink it too much, it'll still fit me
I just back from Tony's shop. He's still working on new leathers. He doesn't want any announcements yet. I’ll just say this. When he’s done, there won’t be any fan that is not satisfied with at least one of his hide offerings. My order is going in tomorrow and I've almost made myself sick trying to decide.

How can he? Seriously, if I had a grand to spare I'd own it right now... well, actually I'd pay off a few bills but if I had another grand after that... and my bills were paid off, and all of Christmas was bought for my family...
How much is a slightly used liver going for these days?

Does that come with some fava beans and a nice Chianti?

I hear that the softest, drapiest, best grain and yet strong as goatskin is actually squirrel leather. Tony's simply trying to figure out how to grow them big enough.
I'm still hoping for a great horsehide! Tony builds his jackets so well, it's a shame if we have can't beat the #### out of them, because of the leather, and can only beat the heck out of them.

Tony hasn't made up jackets from these hides yet, so they are officially not for sale yet. However, I have no doubt whatsoever, that if you don’t care for the “dino hide”/Hawaii leather, these others will do the trick. He’s really done it.

Fine, I'll have to get it from the fat chick in the basement

And what did you go with? ;-) I wish even more that I could have gone to the QM. Seeing these jackets in person would make the choice easier.
I just got off the phone with Tony. He really is an awesome dude, kind of guy I'd like to drink with. He's realistic and totally understands what people are looking for.
Now to the juice-all the other leathers besides shrunken lamb are the same flat price as Indy IV. What's awesome is he said he's send me some swatches because the pictures are BS and he wants me to choose based on seeing the stuff in the flesh so to speak.
As others have stated, I can't say enough for this guy! I love down to earth people man, they're the best to deal with in all facets of life. Now the decision remains of leather choice....that matte lamb is looking pretty cool right about now......
The shrunken lamb is the real deal if you want your jacket to match the one hand delivered to Tony to copy. As for the pics being "bull"... Well, there is truth to that in that no picture ever does enough justice to these hides. We thought it would be a good idea to get a visual representation of them so folks can get an idea of some offerings, but as we've all seen, some who have raised an eyebrow (to put it politely) at the pictures of the shrunken lamb have been so taken by the hide in person as to place orders for the jacket themselves.
indyrocks, I'm glad he's sending you samples. I'm half tempted to get some myself for continued reference, though I've seen them in person. Personally, I think the Raiders cowhide is much nicer than his matte lamb. There's something about that hide which is gorgeous...

Is that the same hide he uses on the CS jacket?
Regards! Michaelson
The Raiders cowhide looked and felt different than the CS cowhides to me. It was VERY soft and supple, yet you could tell there was a good strength to it. It also had a more russet undertone to it, which I really liked. It could be that the CS leathers were pre-distressed to a degree versus the Raiders cow, but the color of the Raiders cow looks like it has a different undertone than the other two.

I was quite taken by his offer to send me samples Bink! I probably wouldn't have asked but he suggested it and it was actually his words that pictures are "bull." I liked that about him, he wanted to cut to the chase and have me see the stuff in person. I think it's interesting how highly you speak of the cow, because from the pics the matte lamb is most pleasing to me aesthetically. Just goes to show how right you are about needing to handle the hides, especially before making a big purchase like this.
Yep, Aviv, Tony would be the first to tell you pics are bull. When he was setting up his vendor table at the QM summit, he kept handing me jackets to look at and check out the hide, even though he had already given me my shrunken lamb! He does cut to the chase, there's no question about that.
Don't get me wrong, I think the matte lamb is nice, and some folks really liked it, but I liked that Raiders cow for reasons unrelated to how "SA" it may or may not be for an Indy jacket. I have my SA Raiders now, anything other is just icing on the cake. As i just said, I'm half tempted to ask if he could make me another non-Indy jacket out of that hide.

to me, that doesnt look piped at all. Just a lighter color then the rest of the jacket because its been sanded. But Im sure Im wrong because there were apparently 500 jackets used in Raiders, each one slightly different and harder to nail down scene to scene. Or so Ive learned on this forum.
I really like that shrunken Lamb...havent paid off the novapelle yet and I already want a Nowak Raiders shrunken lamb! god help me.
Indiana Joyce wrote:to me, that doesnt look piped at all. Just a lighter color then the rest of the jacket because its been sanded.
Which jacket are you referring to, the film jacket or the Novak? With the exception of one experimental prototype, all of Tony's jackets have piping on the pockets. The shrunken lamb shown in the comparison pics is my jacket, and I can tell you those pockets are piped!
ReturningSon wrote:so, Tony has not said anything in terms of price for each of the jackets?...nothing at all?
Other hides are the same flat price as the CS jacket. I spoke with Tony yesterday. ;-)
Is there some reason that this "flat price" has never been seen in print? I mean, I've read every ball-park figure, estimate, and rumor. But never a statement along the lines of, "A TN CS cowhide jacket costs ___." Or is it just so well buried within the enthusiastic posts that I've missed it?

It's $675 excluding shipping, and has been mentioned a few times before. It's just that when it's mentioned, it's usually buried mid-thread several pages deep. ;-)

earlier you were describing how nice and soft the cow is that Tony is offering. How does it compare in weight to the different lambs?
Well, cows are generally heavier than lambs... Actually, none of the hides felt flimsy and paper thin to me. They were all fantastic. The regular Raiders lamb was probably the lightest by my recollection, but they all felt like solid hides to me. My recollection is a bit fuzzy as far as comparisons go, but I believe the Raiders cow was heavier than the lamb...
Okay, this I can tell you for sure: I really liked the Raiders cowhide. It wasn't a thick, stiff hide. It was soft with a very nice drape and felt like it was ready to take a beating. I guess the best advice I can give you is to Call Tony and ask for a sample!
Yeah, Tony said that other hides are $750. I am really considering getting that Flat Matte lamb jacket. I hope Indyrocks posts pics when he gets his. To tell you the truth, I really like the light CS light cowhide for this as well. I don't know though...really, really tough...excuse me while I go rob my local bank!
