Washed Goat in the rain....

Today I was caught in the rain with my newly Raider jacket in Washed Goat (a fantastic leather by the way ;-) )
Of course, the leather was water repellant to a certain point.

When I got home, I saw I had some area of the jacket still pretty dry and since other part of the jacket was damp I decided to soak the rest.

So I gave the shower treatment. I wore the jacket for 2 hours and got some nice wrinkles. Then I put it on a hanger and let it dry.

When I checked on it a few hours back I discovered the leather completely "dry". It feels like some cardboard with a rough surface.
The sleeves looked like it might broke if I folded them.

In the end I have to put a good coat of Pecard on the jacket, the leather already soften and become supple again.

I'm really surprise by the way the Washed Goat turn out after being soak. I didn't have this problem with my Novapelle, even though after the shower treatment on the NP, I still put Pecard on it.

My regular goat also stiffens up after getting soaked but it eventually relaxes up on it's own.

It's been 2 days since the shower treatment. all pecard have been absorb by the jacket.

Now it look fantastic, leather became soft again and it gain some nice wrinkles. The jacket has got some really good character (it already have some to begin with ;-) ) and fit better on me.

What kind of pecards did you use exactly? My washed goat is on its way as I type this (I have a tracking number saying it left the UK). I have no experience in caring for leather, so help is appreciated!

If you want to keep all the look and character of the washed goat (and you will, trust me) use the Pecards Lotion, the white creme looking stuff.

You can use the standard Leather Dressing but it will cover some of the nice blemishes, weathering, and predistressed look that comes along with the washed goat. Get the lotion if you can.

My suggestion though would be to wear it as is for a few days and even get it slightly wet during a quick walk in the rain before doing anything. If you get the sleeves a little damp and push them up you will get fantastic wrinkles.

You may find your jacket seeming a bit "dry" when you recieve it and the Pecards will have a nice effect. But please, don't think you need to put Pecards on it right away. Wear it, make sure it fits, and enjoy it before anything else.

Well here in France, it's a little difficult to have Pecard products without having the shipping price higher than the product itself, I just have the Standard leather dressing.

To my surprise it didn't darken the jacket that much, you can see it on the photos.

I was really please with the result.
