Removing the liner

Post by darthbish »

Hi all,
I'm thinking of taking out the liner of my Fed IV...(it's lookin' pretty manky and stained)..
Will this have any adverse effect on the hat??...(shrinkage, tapering etc??)

Nope. But if the liner looks that ugly, you may want to replace it so all that doesn't end up on the felt itself.

its just glued in there so all you have to do is yank it out. it won't effect the hat at all as chewie says.

go to hatsupply.com and buy another liner for $4 and glue it back in there if you like. or you may be able to get ron to sell you another one from hatsdirect.com

cheers,

Just use a small amount of silicon with a silicon gun and thats it... Just 4 little marks (N,S,E,W) :) And that would work just fine!.
Best Regards,
-Alfonso :)

If the liner is generous enough in size (most are), you won't need glue. Just tuck it under the sweatband and your all set. I currently have four hats with liners in without glue or stitching. No problems.

If it doesn't stay in place just by tucking it into the sweat, a little fabric glue as can be found at your local craft store will do fine.
