Talking about a high crown?

Well COW'ers, this is my first "Indy" hat... It's made of wool, because it was for learning purposes and as I said in this thread viewtopic.php?t=35536 the crown was too high. I thought that in the end it would look good, but I was wrong hehe

Here are the pics:

As you can see it has no tapper at all, but again because the high of the crown, I'll have to start from scratch in order to correct that... I'll post some pictures later.

MLM, that doesn't look too bad. why not reblock her again and sink the hatblock into a 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4" (however much height you wanna take off) wide board with a cutout of your hat block? my board is 3/4" thick. when i wanted more crown, i would prop up the block as it sits inside. when i want less crown, i prop the board up around the block. this is one of the benefits of having a straight sided block. a block with taper will not work with this procedure.

let me tell you though, that looks alot better than my first hat that i put through my final block....you're ahead of the game sir!

I like that ribbon. Its not exactly Indy, but I like it. Good job on the hat too. Not a bad looking wool fedora.

You're right about giving myself some credit, I never thought that it was a terrible hat, but well... I'll post soon the new pictures of the modified hat ;-)
