Indiana Joosse wrote:Cammer, I was one of the people who had problems with Wested. But again these were mostly communications problems. They never seemed to receive my emails and I never seemed to get their replies.

It was only after I called them on the phone that everything was resolved. And it certainly was resolved to my satisfaction. I am very happy with the service they gave me and would not hesitate to do business with them again. In fact, I already have.

So my recommendation to you is to simply call them. When you speak to them personally I belive all will be resolved. It was for me, and I felt very releaved after that.
Yea, I guess the only way for me to really get past this is to get off my wallet and give them a call. Thanks for the input on this. I'll try not to clutter up the thread anymore with this stuff. I'm not sure why I feel so strongly about this. I really love this jacket and fully intend to keep it. I guess I just hate feeling ignored. :)

Indiana Holt wrote:Cammer,

I just send them emails.and 98% of them I get an answer to.2% ends up in their spam.

if I dont getan answer I let it go for a day and just send 2 of the same email to gemma.then I allways get an answer.

no prob
Thanks for the input Holt. It's been over a week since I emailed them the last time with no response, so I don't think they are getting my emails at all. I'll just have to call them.

I almost always call.

I get through every time, can speak with either Gemma or Peter, and they are always happy to help.

E-mail does not work very well for them. I mean, it IS a brand-new technology after all...

You're welcome.

I remember going out of my mind waiting for my jacket. ](*,)

But in the end they just gave me a better jacket instead... :)

I agree, a phone call is the best way when in doubt.
Peter and Gemma must be very busy though, and I try to keep conversations short.
I wonder how many phone calls they get from us every day, from all around the world? We're quite a diverse bunch!

So, needless to say...

Id love to send an email to find out the status. I know I wont hear back, ever. The not knowing is killing me. I feel like they got my order, but it was at the bottom of the pile, and friday some guy in his 80s did one stitch on the sleeve. Or worse, they ran out of novapelle but arent contacting the people that ordered it so I now have a six month wait time.

Funny, I think its way back in the first post...but I had started this thread because someone had told me you can wait up to a year for a wested jacket. Everyone laughed and said no no foolish adam. Hasnt been a year yet..but if its not here by november 17th that makes 3 months since this whole thing got started.:(

Maybe it will arrive today. And maybe all things in the universe will suddenly go super extra keen as well. Right.

Joyce, I feel your pain.

Even though I was lucky enough to get mine delivered eventually, I did have a long wait. Not as long as your though, but I do realise that at a certain point in time you start to wonder what you are doing it all for.

Now I also was lucky that I din't require it for a special occasion, like halloween. I just wanted a great jacket to wear. Even though the longer it took, the colder the weather got, so I wouldn't be able to wear it for a long time. But heck, there's always next year.

Anyway, enough about me.

I can't stress enough the fact that it is always a good idea to call Wested. It probably won't get you your jacket, but at least you will know where you stand.

Hang in there, buddy.

Well I guess I should be thankful that I received a jacket. It wasn't the one I ordered, but it does look good and fits me very well.

They really need to do something about their email problems.

Y'know, I've heard this from several Wested customers, but my jacket arrived in a cardboard carton. Maybe they ran out of bags just before they shipped mine? :-k

I know they come in bags, I just got my hopes up that maybe the bag ripped in shipping, and they had to repackage it( happened at UPS all the time...) just giving myself excuses to get excited. Went to a halloween party last night as TOD Indy right before he gets in the fight with the huge guard.

First time I put on fullers earth, and first time applying it to my hat.

Was discussing that today...what happens when the bag gets caught on a staple sticking out of another box, and you get instant distressing?

One of my emails made it thru, and Gemma's made it back. She told me that custom jackets take longer then off the rack( didnt know that, I cant read) and that she was sorry for the delay(which one, the one where my order got lost and thats why I didnt get my jacket in the middle of october and had to reorder it, or the new delay of not really knowing when its coming) and that my jacket should be here by the end of the week.

Tracking number? Did you mail it yet? Is it in customs? Hey, why tell people these things. Im pretty sure, that this will be the only indy jacket I ever own. I dont want to deal with anything anymore. Im getting sick of costuming in general because of stuff like this. Everyone wants respect and courtesy but dont want to show it first.

Hang in there buddy.

Keep the faith.

I've read about people waiting for years to get stuff. It's only now with internet that we are so used to instant gratification. But I truly sympathise.

IJ sorry to here your having multiple issues. I was one of the ones early on stating it wouldn't take more than a few weeks and feel a little bad that you have had so many problems.

I can confirm that both of my Wested jackets, 1 OTR, 1 Custom have the same black Wested tag and also have the size tag in them.

I don't think the colour of the sizing tag means anything. They have spools of tags in the shop, pretty sure of either colour.

Of the 4 jackets I have to hand, 3 UK made one Indian, all have black sizing tags with white numbers.

two of the buttons on one of my indy shirts fell off and got lost in the wash, so i have to replace all 13 buttons because i cant find the ones already on there around here. The laces on my close enough indy shoes are about to break any day now. And time is running out for this jacket.

The only good thing to happen today is that at work one of the truck drivers called me "Jonesy". and I won another pin for my mutt jacket.

Thats funny. you must get things sent to you on time.

TO beat a dead horse:

I ordered my jacket on september 17th. no major alterations, other then a custom size as an OTR jacket will not fit me. I am close to 6'5" and 290 pounds. Im pretty sure Im the person that broke the news to the group that emails were disappearing. I had to go thru someone else to get contact, where Gemma told the person that she got my emails and was replying to them. I didnt get an actual response, until I paid. Never got an order confirmation number. Decided to call, based on feedback from the group. Two days and 30 dollars later, I found out that my jacket order never went thru. So I had to reorder it...did I get moved up on the list? No. Did they offer free shipping, or any other kind of compensation? No. They inconvenienced me, and the whole reason I ordered in september was so that Id be able to wear it on halloween, and have it all nice and broken in come mid november.

Just to make sure that things were moving along, I sent Gemma another email. surprisingly, it went through. Apparently its been shipped. When? Tracking number? anything? No. Its supposed to be here" by the end of the week " . Tomorrow is Friday. So either tomorrow or Saturday, the jacket is "supposed" to be here.

Will it?

I dont make alot of money. Every costume I make, I make by hand, or buy one piece at a time. I never could have afforded a custom Todds, or G&B, or US wings. And no one makes an OTR in my size.

Can you understand my frustration here man? No apologies, no trying to make things right, just thanks for the cash and youll get the jacket eventually cheers. I believe that Gemma did say in her email sorry for the delay, but went on to tell me that as I ordered a custom it would take longer. So its my fault that Im bigger then average? And its my fault I had to put in my order a second time?

Ive got my heart set on this jacket. What happens if it never comes? Or it comes months later then it was supposed to be here? What happens if I get it, and the stitching is off or its filled with holes or some other imperfections and it never should have left the factory?

September 17th. You order something that should take under a month, and wait over a month for it. See how you feel. And Im still walking that line, afraid Peter will get mad at me, but also feeling like an idiot for even trying this instead of sticking with the too small wested I got on ebay in springtime.

I come home, every day, from my miserable job, and all i want to see is that shipping bag. and every day, Im disappointed. Then I come online to complain to you poor saps who must be sick of listening to me by now. Then the next day I go back to work to have my coworkers ask "did you get the jacket yet?" like I wouldnt be wearing it to work.

Im sorry. Besides this, Im going thru something majorly bad with my girlfriend right now. And I cant talk to her about this stuff because she tolerates my costuming but isnt exactly a fan of it.

well, we are all here to help, but unfortunately in this case, all we can do is listen.

Sometimes that is enough, sometimes not.

I too am waiting on a custom from Wested.

My other jacket is a custom from Schott. The Schott was about a month to 1.5 months overdue, but I eventually got it. And, it will outlive me. I am hoping for the same with theWested.

So, I don't know how much help this is, but hang in there. Because once you have it, you will realize it was worth the wait!

Indiana Joyce,

You've probably thought of this already but it's happened to me and, I think, to others on COW - have you looked in your email's Spam folder? Not neccessarily from Wested, but I have gotten order responses sent there. I usually never look before I clean it out but now I do.

Thank you JC, but I dont have Aldens...at this point it is still undetermined if Aldens even makes the shoe in my size. I have to have my feet measured and then call Schmidty.

I check my spam folder every day, and at no point was there ever an email from Gemma or Wested in there. Im starting to think that Gemma might be one of the problems at Wested.

Thank you all for everything. All the listening, all the advice, everything.

So on to the news.

Its here. Came in while I was at work. I have to reimburse my mother the 24 dollars for customs, which was a wonderful surprise. I was under the belief that when the box is checked GIFT then you dont have to pay customs? It was also shipped out the day before Halloween. Glad that I was never given any kind of tracking number so I could chart its progress. Also, there are a few white spots on it...very small...possible natural discoloration.

Anyway, thats the negative. Always go out on top, so Im leaving with the positive.

The jacket weighs under 2 pounds for anyone wondering about the weight. The fit is great, its nice having sleeves that dont ride up as soon as I lift my arms. It zips closed, and the length is just the right height, right at my hips. It smells great, and the leather is very soft.

Novapelle, to try to describe it. It looks one color one way, another color the other. Does that make sense? The subtle color variations show up when the jacket has creases, folds, etc.

As far as distressing it, Ive decided to let it go naturally this time around, but I do want to crease the sleeves. I think. It actually looks like it would crease up very fast naturally. Ive thought about using water on the collar to stretch that out a bit, roll it up and such so it drapes right.

I took a few pics with my cell phone as I dont have a digital camera. But I am having a hard time getting the pictures onto my computer.

Now, to sleep in it tonight or not to...
