thats one of the easiest things to fix yourself I wouldn't pay more money on another hat just because it has a better bow.Indiana G wrote:the ribbon work is not very SA and i do not know if the brim is dimensionally cut. other than that, the block shape looks nice and i've seen some great hats that have come out of it.

she's priced that way because of the felt. if its the same felt as HJ, you have to be veeeeeeeery careful with it. i've never lost less than 1/4" on my reblocking experiments with this felt. keep her dry and out of rain and humidity and she'll be okay....if you get caught in the rain, you'll be wearing a witch's hat in no time soon.Dutch_jones wrote:thats one of the easiest things to fix yourself I wouldn't pay more money on another hat just because it has a better bow.Indiana G wrote:the ribbon work is not very SA and i do not know if the brim is dimensionally cut. other than that, the block shape looks nice and i've seen some great hats that have come out of it.

the IMHJ is further improved than a stock HJ as steve will shrink an oversized hat body down to your size and further pounce it. unfortunately, you'd probably need to start with a stock HJ that is sized 3 to 4 sizes up to get the felt to "sit" at an acceptable level.Dutch_jones wrote:$100 for a hat this accurate, I can overlook the default bow work.
with the mag and the HJ on virtually the same stuff, this hat seems a great option for the price.

My Christy´s is still looking very good after some light rains, it even has some reverse taper now. It´s a nice hat but the ribbon really looks funny. Does anyone know where I can get a new ribbon? (Except Todd´s)
But I´m very happy with it. Actually I have a brown one on order to have a "budget" Raiders hat.

I bought my Christys as a cheap "surrogate" for my Magnoli HJ, which I want to make sure is preserverved in good condition. The Christys has fulfilled that purpose very nicely and for the money I don't see anything else out there that looks as SA to my eyes. I would echo the precautions about taking good care of it and not subjecting it to much heavy weather or rough treatment, but other than that one caveat I would not hesitate to recommend it, especially as a starter or extra hat.
