Wested Making a ToD jacket - order questions

Post by RCSignals »

Admin asked for a separate thread and I couldn't find one so...

RCSignals wrote:For specifications, to get jacket body length right, how does one determine if you want the ratio to be correct with the original?

If you want only an exact copy of the NH do you simply write that in the comments section?

thanks

edit: it was said in the other thread that the jacket is a 40. I assume this refers to being for a 40" chest size not the actual measurement of the jacket which would mean it's for a smaller chest?

A question for you all - Peter said the ToD jacket was 1" longer than the Raiders jacket. Do we add that additional 1" into the "Back Length" measurement on the order form, or will Peter add 1" to whatever length we put? (i.e. - if the back length of my Raiders jacket is 25", do I list 25" as Peter will add that add'l 1", or do I factor that in myself and write down 26"?)
Thanks!

Kind regards,
Craig

I would factor it in yourself. :)

Check out the handshake in front of the palace to see where the jacket should fall. JMSuggestion.

Wooo hooo :) ! Been waiting on this one. Order is in, Washed goat. I do not have a goat jacket, and like the variety. From pictures of others jackets I think it will work for the TOD look.
If you are ordering, what leather are you selecting?

Just ordered; authentic brown lamb. Almost went with the washed goat, but I love the lambskin too much! Maybe a washed goat a little later on,
if they're still available.

Got my order in for a dark brown.. measurements hopefully to match the perfect sleeve and back length that I have with my Wings jacket. When I get myself a washed goat Raiders, I'll take an inch off of that.

Jacket Size: 42
Sleeve Length: 25 (although I added that the total collar to sleeve end needs to be 32.5-33)
Back Length: 26

Picked Dark Brown based on several members and their posted pics as well as this comparison of the ToD to the washed lamb of the prototype

The waiting is the hardest part!!

Yeah, placed my order. I also went with a Dark Brown lambskin. My measurements:

Size 50
Sleeves: 25
Back: 27
No extra pocket
Dark Brown Lambskin
Special Request: Satin Sheen Label that states : ""Harrison Ford- Indiana Jones Film 2"

Not bad, I cannot wait to get this! But, like I said earlier, is this an open ended run or a limited edition of 60 jackets?....Thanks!!!

I hope it isn't too limited, but I should get my order in by tomorrow. I only wish they offered a Darker Brown Washed Goat.

I'm adding an inch or so to my tad short raiders/lc hybrid I bought in 2005, should be a perfect (if not sa) length for me.

Oh, btw, does anyone know what color the nylon lining is? Is it the same brown they use in the cotton? :-k

I think I remember reading somewhere where Peter was saying something about sourcing more hardware, so I don't think it's as limited as 60, but don't take my word on it. :-k

If I'm correct, Peter was able to find some original equipment snaps and zippers for the jackets. He had enough of those for the first 60 jackets after that you get the new stuff.

Who knows the sleeve and back length of the original as worn by KT?

When Wested asks for back length is it from the top or bottom of the collar stand?

I measured from the neck, not the collar as the collar extends the neck and is usually not part of a "back" measurement, or at least that is what my tailor told me about 5 years ago. :)

According to the original thread, the same type from the same manufacturers in the same materials. Mostly old stock.

I guess if that doesn't matter to you, you could specify for them to use their standard hardware.

which leather was used for the prototype and which best matches the NH jacket?

Authentic (seal) Brown English lambskin or Dark Brown Lambskin ?

******************

edit: found the prototype was made of 'burnished' lamb.

I post here my previous question since it was OT on the other topic

I was ckecking the custom made page on the EKM website and when I looked at the different hides on the raider jacket (I know, I know but I've already check the ToD page, promise !!) in the option I saw "Worn look hide", what is it

I'm sure after the initial batch of orders are finished, the jacket will be available again

Not sure what the CANCELLED -> PROCESSING emails were about, but Gemma emailed me for confirmation of my sleeve lengths. I measured both arms 3x each once more, changed my length from 25 to 26", as that's the distance from my shoulder bone to an inch or so from my thumb knuckle. Almost all the shoulder seams on my jackets fall about an inch below that shoulder bone, so that's where I must have come up with the first measurement.. Hope I get it right!!

Out of stock already?

I wonder if that just means they've run out of original hardware or specific leather.

I think the original thread said there were enough original snaps for 60 and zips for 100.

I think I must have just got mine in before they ran out... went with authentic brown lamb, although washed goat was a close second choice...

Sorry about that. The stock level has been adjusted to 60.
The back length sample is 26" on the size 40"
Piers ordered twice which is why one was cancelled.
Methinks he got a bit exited
Cheers

 :[

in the order number, are the last 2 digits the number the order that the order was placed (did I say order enough?).. if so, rats, the cancelled order was /05, the new one /32

Thanks Peter, I didn't notice the different numbers in the emails!

Cheers!

*addendum- I think I know where the double came from, the first order gave me an error trying to pay with paypal and instead of clicking Back, I closed the window and had to start again..

Ohhh boy, now I'm excited!! I'm a size 40 and gave my back spec as 26", so this gives me reassurance that I ordered the right length. I guess I'll be getting a 1:1 version of this jacket - I can't wait!! :)

Peter,
Thank you sincerely for what you have done with this project. I have bought jackets from you long before I was a member on COW, it will be a sad day for many gearheads when you do decide to retire. While you may get some grief from time to time from particular people on the boards, I'm sure there are many out there both on COW and not, who are more grateful than you know for your efforts. Being in the customer service industry myself, compliments unfortunately tend to come much less frequently than criticism.
-Ben

SIDE NOTE: The jackets are back up on Wested's site, which is now modified. The description of the jacket has also been changed. Initially it listed the jacket as including leather facings and a leather trimmed inner pocket. I emailed Gemma asking about these specs...and the description has now been modified. She wrote back saying that all the TOD jackets would be constructed identically as copies of the original except for the leather selection :) .

Whew, after having a bit of trouble with the ordering system (I'm pretty sure I placed two orders) I finally got mine in.

I followed up an email giving them my actual measurements, so hopefully the fit comes out good.

strange. I ended up with two in my 'cart' as well, but I deleted one of them before I placed the order.

I wonder how many of the 60 are sold?

Done! I'm in!
Although on the order form it goes from size 36 to 40. Maybe a typo, but I needed a 38.
Oh well, I specified this on the 'special request' form so I should be OK. ;-)
