OK, looking for some info on what is good to use to color the front area of an Indy shirt, to give it the appearance of being "sweated-up".
Any suggestions on getting the look? Real sweat won't work, because it's usually too cool in October here in the northeast USA for that.
Not worried about permanently staining the shirt, because it will be for costuming, after all.
Any help would be great.
Mike
Where does one buy glycerin? I mean you can't just walk into Rite Aid and buy a bottle of it, can you? I know it is an ingredient in certain deodorants, but where can I get the product you are speaking of?
I'm pretty sure you can buy it in the chemist/drugstore. You may even be able to get it in the baking section of your local supermarket it is a cooking ingredient IIRC.
Oh, and you can use it to make things that go boom... of you know what you are doing.
Ahhhh, in that case, I wouldn't be surpriesed if you CAN'T get it at the local chemist. This is America, after all. Big brother has to watch out for us so we don't blow stuff up all the time.

Definitely glycerine. Check Michael's, Joanns Fabric or your local cake decorating/soap making supply dealer.
So...once you GET the glycerine, how do you prepare it for costuming, if you get it from the baking section? Is it a powder that you have to make into a liquid, like Kool-Aid, or is it a gel? Just curious.
Glycerin comes in bottles from 8 oz to 1 gallon from any drug store. It's a clear thick liquid that you can mix with distiled water. Use distiled water due to minerals and other containments in most waters. A 50/50 mix is a good start. Do a test, say a few tea spoons worth at first till you get the "wetness" you want. Mix a larger batch and put into a spray bottle; like the kind you use for garden or cleaning products. Make sure it's a new bottle and label it "make up sweat" cause you don't want to spray yourself with say 409 ;-) Get dressed up, have some one spray you till you get what you want. You can then add fullers earth to give a nice dirty look..

Do a test on a (very) small area, say the bottom hem 1/2 inch. Let it stand for a few hours then clean as normal. One should always try small tests before committing on the whole enchilada..

I actually was Ed Norton's character from Fight Club for Halloween years ago. I had a bar of pink soap in my front pocket and had a briefcase full of IKEA catalogs. I had the lye burn, blood on my collar and a pretty good shiner. The people that got it gave me that Fight Club ;-) I loved that costume.
