First "Real" Jacket and Piece of Gear

Post by FentonA »

First, I'd like to talk about my history with this hobby. Like most, the jacket got me started. Back then, I was thinking about getting some kind of clothing that'll make me feel quite good about myself whenever I wear it, and basically one that'll improve my overall appearance. I was having that little random thought about a month after seeing Indy 4. So of course, my mind went to that movie, and I remembered the jacket and just how good it looked. Mind you, before that, I was not interested at all in Indiana Jones, let alone his clothes, having NEVER watched a single Indiana Jones film before KotCS.

So anyway, I liked the jacket, and not even knowing it was made of leather, I bought some cloth that, to me, had about the same color as the movie's. I printed out a couple of screenshots of the jacket and gave them along with the cloth to the tailor. I got myself measured, and ten days later, I got my jacket. Of course, since I was no expert back then, I didn't realize that it was misisng so many components of an Indy jacket - side vents, side-entry hand warmers, wrong back stitching, etc. And it looked more like formal suit, especially from the back, and it had squared shoulders.

Since then, I've done a LOT of research, and I got interested in more pieces of gear. I am now a gearhead. I don't intend to get every piece of gear. Not even the fedora! No, it's because I only want to be the best Indy "I" can be (I don't look good wearing a fedora, so...). I'm planning to get everything except the fedora, gunbelt, and everything on the gunbelt.

But enough of my past; a few weeks ago I finally received my first "real" Indy gear piece - a custom LC/CS Novapelle from Wested Leather (size 40 Regular). I was too lazy to post these pictures sooner, but here they are. I think they are perfectly made except for one thing: the leather at the back of the jacket connecting the top part of the side vents stick out whenever I stand normally. This makes me look a bit hunchbacked, and really fat from the sides. If someone here can provide a solution besides sending it back for repairs, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Now without further ado, here's the jacket (it's a bit blurry, sorry):

I am now currently waiting for my Magnoli satchel and strap, ordered yesterday!

Most common suggestion around here seems to be try loosening the side straps;) I know someone was going to say it if I didnt.
