Some helpful advice for the army:
*Just because Joe Jr.s fedoras are made of bullet proof felt, doesn't mean they will stop bullets. They are not made of Kevlar.
*Don't argue with the sarge when he says you have to wear the boots you were issued instead of your Aldens
*Don't use a picture of the Sarge's face for S&W practice. He WILL find out.
*Don't tell the Sarge that your fedora looks better than the crummy hat they give him. That's a good way to start washing the floors with a Fed.
*When asked what your battle strategy is, don't say "I dunno, I'm making it up as I go".
*And finally; If and when you desert, don't say "Adios Satipo", They will know you intend to head to Mexico.
These are my six survival rules of survival in the army.

Congrats Chris, both on the jacket and choice of career.
To kinda piggyback on what IndianaJones said, if you have questions about what to expect with your new career you can feel free to contact me and I will answer your questions best I can (I'm AirForce so I could probably give you some general advice) but you may want to check out

It is a military related message board similar to COW, that was set up by R. Lee himself.

Congrats!
As a former Army National Guardsmen, I too echo what others have said...your choice is a wise one, as the military provides so many benefits to your future. Money for school, the chance to serve your country, discipline, and you get to blow stuff up. I couldn't believe the TNARNG was going to PAY me to LEARN to be a US soldier.
Also congrats on your Wested! By the way, I am fairly jealous...I also wanted to be an MP, but my recruiter (a good friend these days) said, "No, no, what you wanna do is be a Cav Scout!" Sigh...let us know further developments, Wested-wise and Army-wise!
Peace,

P.S. Go Army! Hooah!!!!
P.S.S. Basic is not that bad at all. PM me if you have questions/fears.

Although if anyone could make an Indy fedora out of Kevlar, it would be Joe Jr. Maybe just a Kevlar fedora liner?!IndianaJones wrote:Some helpful advice for the army:

Best of luck. The good things have been said by the folks above. Serve well. Serve with pride.
