Great Idea! I didn't think about "dirtyindianasolo07" or maybe "dirtyindianasolo007". Too late, I guess.....

BTW, my hat did NOT come in today either. :(

jasonalun seems to be the only lucky one here who ordered sometime between the 10th and 13th to receive his hat. Anyone else got their's yet?

"dirtyindianasolo" is my poor attempt to come up with a clever screen name.

Dirty = Dirty Harry (I'm a big Clint Eastwood fan, especially the westerns & the Dirty Harry movies)
Indiana = well, we all know who that is
Solo = HF's alter ego in those little Star Wars movies

Pretty much the movies I grew up on as a kid. Kinda hard to also work James Bond into my screen name. It's convoluted enough as it is.

Enjoy your hat! Can't wait to get mine.

While we wait patiently for our Feds here's a little humor; try substituting "hat" for "chair".

I'm also still waiting on the hat. According to their "Don't be patient" email, if I don't get it tomorrow, I'm supposed to contact them. I really hope it just comes tomorrow.

Well, they said it themselves: don't be patient...

In my book that does mean that they truly care if their hats are delivered on time, wich I see as a very good thing! :)

Great news. Both hats (standard carbon grey and dlx moonstone) arrived this morning. I almost didn't hear the mailman knock on the door; why he didn't ring the bell is a mystery. Our usually useless terrier was true to form and didn't hear him either

Anyway, I opened the box and found them neatly nested one inside the other and, best of all, they both fit! After waiting and waiting (ok, I'm exaggerating ) for them to make the journey of several thousand miles, I wondered if I really did measure correctly. I breathed a big sigh of relief when they fit comfortably snug. Now I'll feel a bit more confident about providing my measurement to John Penman!

Now I just have to figure out how to bash them! :-k

Hey Greg!

Congrats on getting your hats and the fit. :) Don't worry. Bashing is half the fun. It's really not as hard as it looks.

When did you order them?

I'm still waiting on today's mail, so maybe I'll get lucky.

Thanks

US Mail just delivered my Fed IV Deluxe !! \:D/  :rolling:

Looks like they're finally being delivered. I'm in the central US so, the deliveries seem to be working from the US west coast towards the US east coast.

Great looking hat and perfect fit! I'll try to post some pics after the bash.

Good luck to everyone else!

Yay! Maybe blueoakleyz, and spenyks wil come today or Monday, too. Looking forward to seeing your pics. :)

I'm loving mine - got my first "Hey Indy!" comment, too. At the same place (and same guy), I also left the building and came right back in because I'd forgotten something, and the guy said, "did your forget your whip?"

Going to a fall harvest party tonight, and going to wear the heck out of it - the perfect place for one. It'll be crisp, misty, and out in the country.

Thanks dirtyindianasolo07! I've been bashing and unbashing and rebashing, etc. I'm just starting to get the hang of it... I think!

I ordered mine on the 12th and got confirmation the 13th. Thankfully, my nightmares of customs holdups were unfounded...this time! :)

Looks like I won't have to send that email after all. It's an absolutely fantastic hat. It's surpassed all my expectations. Only time will show if it outlasts my AB that I got a few months ago, but you can't get a better hat for the price! Without further ado, my new Fed IV Deluxe in moonstone with my KotCS Bash attempt:

Fed IV Takes Flight as AUD Sinks

Post by YARVTON »

I ordered one on a Friday and it came two weeks later on Thursday. Not sure what day it was shipped. Ordered another yesterday -- Saturday -- so that won't fly out before Monday. As I recall, the cost was about US$63.00! Is there a better VALUE out there?

First I gotta say I never thought I'd get this... a REAL Indy hat. I'm not meaning just the delivery time but when I was fantasizing about it in May and then lost hope/interest in the months between until the price dropped so low.
It's hard to shape and get it right. The front part was sloping forward instead of backwards but I think it does slope backwards when it's on my head.

So here are some preliminary pics

Thanks everyone. ;-) and sorry to those who haven't gotten theirs yet... I know how extremely excrutiating it is.

Anyway I love this hat. It put any need to get a 300+ dollar hat away because I honestly feel like I have the same exact hat worn in the movies... it's amazing. Oh btw it looks so BIG. I wonder what strangers think when they see it lol.

It took me forever to get the hang of how to bash the crown.. and I used some steam and cold water (cold water worked better) for the brim. Please tell me what you think of my bash; I like it but I don't have a trained eye. Last Crusade is my favorite movie so thats what I went for.

I ordered a Fed IV Deluxe on 10/20. It arrived yesterday, 10/29. Except that I wasn't at home to sign for it. So I stopped by the post office to pick it up this morning. Now I gotta find time to do a bash - only had a chance to look at it quickly and make sure it fits. Is it necessary to use steam on the brim?

I hate to say it but it's only been 22 days. It is probably the postal service that has dropped the ball and not the Hatters. I know their turn around is fast and I understand your disappointment, but try waiting 6 months if you want to get into the "I'm never going to buy from them again" frame of mind. Just be glad you didn't order a Camptown. :x

Yeah I don't have a problem with Hatsdirect. My carbon that I got this summer came within 4 days of order. I still will order more hats from them. It would be nice to have it for Halloween, but if not I guess I'll wear my "authentic" hat. Or I could wear my carbon. I can argue with people that in Raiders his hat was always gray... yes... yes... that's it.
