Cracker Organizer

Post by louiefoxx »

I was cleaning out my whipbag and the pocket of it was out of control. In the pocket I keep:

* A handfull of Crackers
* Small tub of leather dressing
* Fall
* Fid
* Small knife
* Bits of old crackers or falls to throw away when I get home (but somehow they never get thrown away)

I thought it would be much easier to find things if the crackers weren't everywhere. So I made a "Bullwhip Cracker Organizer"!

I made it with some kangaroo lace I had kicking around. It's 4 plait with a little 5/4 turkshead.

It's really made it easier to get to things in my bag...now all I need is some dry weather! In Seattle we have the "Rainy Season" and the "Slightly Less Rainy Season".

I've used a strip of roo in the past, but at times I've tied the knot too tight or had it get otherwide un-untieable (is that a word?) and ended up having to cut it.

Hello Louie, good idea.

A little off topic. Looking at the picture, I wonder if anyone has ever put on more than one cracker on the fall at a time? If so, was there any difference in cracks? More crackers, larger sound?

Just curious,

Regards,

I got this idea from a friend who uses this to keep his crackers handy in his whip bag. It's originally meant to be a money clip I believe. Anyhoo I got it at the Tandy store. Just thought I'd share an alternative to the idea.

Money clip! Genius!

I just keep mine segregated in small ziplock bags.

My FAVORITE means of keeping poppers organized and handy that I've seen is how Chris Camp does it.

Chris does all cowboy themed shows, and his costumes are all just top notch stuff. He wears a REALLY nice old west gunbelt without holsters. The cartridge loops in the back are where he keeps his poppers. He threads his poppers through the cartridge loop, pulls the knots through the loop in the end for the fall, and just lets them hang. They don't come out easily, and all you have to do is grab and pull and they come right out.

I really liked that.

I THINK I've seen some pics where his wife Laura performs with him and wears a closely matching costume with her OWN gunbelt, the custom "drop holster" of which she uses to contain targets for Chris.

GREAT stuff! And the shows are just the most fast paced, non-stop onslaughts of supersonic brilliance...

If you ever get the opportunity to see one first-hand, DO IT!
