My Wested turns 10! (pics)+POST YOUR 'VINTAGE' WESTEDS HERE!

Post by sebas »

Well, here it is folks, my Raiders Wested and I are celebrating our 10th anniversary together, and I wanted to share these pics. :)
What can I say? This jacket and I have been through a lot together and has become like an old, trusty friend. I've put it through snow, rain, sand, mud…you name it. And a decade later, it looks and feels better than ever. The quality of the craftsmanship, leather, stitching, etc is superb.
Many thanks, Peter! One the best buys I've ever made. :notworthy:

Anyway, onto the pics: :whip:

Front view in slightly different light:

Larger view of previous right-hand pic:

Open zipper. One thing to note, my composition is a bit odd: I have shorter torso and longer legs. Hence, the jacket might seem a little long. It was custom made, but given my height (6, 1"), Peter told me to go for the Long. Maybe I should have stuck to the Regular…

Back view, again in slightly different lights.

Side views: The natural distressing can be seen here pretty clearly:

Font and back:

Front pockets and yoke details:

The lining around the neck and pocket areas was pretty much in tatters. On a recent visit to LA, I had a local dry clean/alterations place in West Hollywood do a 'patch-job' and I think they did a pretty good job:

Image

Lastly, a couple shots of the natural distressing in different lights. One natural, the other fluorescent. The action pleat depth can be seen well here too:

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pictures. Feel free to discuss and for those of you who own 'vintage' (or 90s Westeds), please post them here!
Have a better one, fellas.

Great pics Sebas: is this an authentic brown or dark brown? I'm always interested in colours! ;-)

Hi Sebas,

Lovely Jacket and very well worn in. That jacket has alot of character, and it suits you no end.

BTW; what leather is it? It kinda looks like Goat as it looks as thick skined as mine. Just curious.

Thank you so much for the time and effort showing us the pictures.

Paul.

Terrific shots! That's a great jacket. I finally got around to having one of my early Westeds altered. (It was a custom and I got a little carried away, or mismeasured, in the sleeve length, so I haven't really worn it much.) It is by far my favorite though with the perfect leather. I'm also having the sleeve lining replaced as the cotton always bunched up my shirt. I don't remember the exact date but I think late 80's is pretty close.

It looks like you have the same perfect leather in yours. Once again, great stuff!

Sebas, you got lucky in your pocket placement. 10 years ago it wasn't such an issue as it is today. Mine are a bit farther from the seams, yours looks great. Pocket shape is the same though. Also, mine is also a Long as per Peters suggestion based on my height. I think your jacket is perfect in it's length. Your pants are pulled up dead center to the pockets as it was with the film jackets.

Holt, did you ask for a slightly longer (not wider) collar? Have you water-treated yours yet?

its a wested authentic Lamb of the rack.

funny that you say about the collar A5.thats why I feel that it is so ravenbarish.narrower in the body sleevs with a wider collar.the collar is a also bit wider then my other wested reg, maby that was a production mistake, cause its an of the peg from india..

no spring/shower treated....just lots,lots of rain....

Eric,
That jacket looks amazing! Do you have some exterior shots with natural light? Incidentally: what's the difference between Dark Brown and Authentic lambskin?
Cheers, amigo!

Kt, that jacket -I'm sorry- looks stunning. I say sorry because you no longer own it! I don't know: there's something about these vintage Westeds that somehow look more 'real' than a lot of the recent, more 'souped up' Raiders jackets. I can't quite put my finger on it exactly.
Thanks for sharing the pics!

All of these are wonderful jackets. Sebas I love the coloring and distressing on yours. Though I don't want the time to pass, I look forward to seeing how my jackets weather.

sebas,

I will take some outside shots of it soon my friend.

the differences in the colors is that the dark has a color of what you see mostly on screen.the authentic is sligtly lighter brown shade and looks like what the jacket looks like in real life.not as seen on screen under heavy llight.etc.

but in some scenes more of the true color of the jacket shows thru.

see here

I actually never noticed how close the pockets are to.hmmm :-k ..funny..its just an of the rack...

I think that is great. I would love to see more people post their "vintage" jackets. It is nice to see what I can expect from mine. :)
