From the picture I can't spot differences but the colour, could you confirm visible construction differences?

They look beautiful by the way

Well, to be honest I can't see any other difference than the colour here... And a different Alden logo in the inside.

EDIT: See below a tongue lining difference!

The light/reddish brown is the current Alden production colour. The dark brown is the original colour used in Raiders of the lost Ark movie (and probably in ToD and LC too).

Those are some seriously awesome Indy boots. I would totally buy a pair if I had that kind of money to play with. In terms of quality, though, everyone can rest assured that all Aldens are created equal.

That's what I'm talking about. Maybe we'll get lucky and the Alden rep will mention this request to the powers that be.

Hey guys I checked again and discovered a difference: the tongue linining is in leather. The regular is cotton.

I really like these boots. They do look Raiders to me. But I dunno, I'm not convinced it was the original colour of the boots back then. If it was, then how would we see reddish Alden's in the in-truck close-up if they didn't actually exist back then? :?

It seems more likely to me that they "browned-up" some reddish boots for the bulk of the movie, rather than "redded-up" some brown boots for the in-truck close-up.

there was also the pictue of Indy and Marion in cairo where the boots seemed reddish, But the color on these puppies is just terrific, I like it too :)

BINGO! And the AB Alden color was discontiued while the brick color was kept. It really is simple. The Aldens in the close-up in the truck were shot at ILM in California and weren't even Fords feet.

That's interesting. Do we know for sure this is what happened? If so, I wonder why they did that. Were the close-ups an afterthought? Surely it would have been easier to film them on location when the truck was to hand. I'm sure it wouldn't have taken long.

It probably happened during editing. They found they needed an insert scene to transition between shots. The scene on the Washington steps with Indy and Marion was the same thing. Wasn't originally in the script. Someone asked what happened to Marion and they wrote a scene and filmed it at the SF mayors office building. Lucas did the same thing during the SW prequels. He often would edit the film and film inserts and make changes as he went along.

Glad you like them!

Please understand that I don't want to explain every single detail that months and months of research - both from my side but certainly as well from Alden - that has enabled us to re-create the hero boots from Raiders, even in areas that you don't see.

I'm not sure if they're the same in ToD (pretty sure they were different in LC) though.

Regards,

Marc

The insert shots for the truck chase were filmed at ILM. I can't recall exactly which one, but it was in one of my behind-the-scenes books/magazines. Even the shot of "Indy" afixxing his whip under the truck was filmed at ILM. You can even see a bluescreen backround in that clip which only lasts 1-2 seconds.

Ford does wear both colored pairs in the film, it's just that the brown ones have eluded us for years since they've been discontinued for so long. Very few members have been lucky enough to score a vintage pair until Marc stepped up to the plate to offer them to all of us.

I'm sure that I'm not the only to notice in that photo of Marion and Indy, that Indy's holster is on his LEFT side.

Very nice boots!! 8) Why Alden decided to go with the pumpkin color is beyond me....can't see it outselling a brown boot if they were side by side with matching prices.

I think the whole picture is flipped. The bows on the wrong side of the fedora, as is the mkvii.

I'd assume the picture has just been flipped since his bag is also on the wrong side. :-k

In LC they look different, more similar to the standard laces. And boot colour here is probably light brown, very distressed.

Honestly, that pic is a bad example of the boot's color since it has so much fullers earth on it. I'm sure it is the reddish boot but that pic doesn't give much info either way, except they're used.

Also, they still appear to be the round laces, just a thinner lace.

I've noticed that my reddish boots definitely look more brown and more like the SA boots when I put Fullers on them.

At first I was kind of wanting to Darken my Aldens more, but after seeing these photos and comparing how mine look with Fullers on them, I wouldn't change mind for anything!

Great job, Marc- these are beautiful boots.

I immediately changed shoes and have been wearing them all day. No framed box for mine, I'm gonna get good wear out of these puppies for the price I paid and use them as every day shoes.
