Some time ago I was asked by some members to grade the pockets in order to accomodate big size jackets so they could specify some size in their custom orders.
They thanked me but I never learnt what happened. Did they order the jackets? Did the up-sizing of the pockets work? Are they satisfied with the result?
Where are the pics?

Hey Platon.
I just came across this old thread...
Did you ever get the data you were loking for on this?
As you may know, I'm puting the 'epic' Raiders data thread together right now, and I know you are one of the "go-to guys" for these things.
In fact, I scaled up your (patent pending) pocket design on my new jacket...
Just wondering!

You see, I think 8 inches is probably okay in a 42. If the flap is decently made - at least 3 inches deep, with a good shape, that 8 inches actually looks smaller.Heyjude7 wrote:Hey Platon, i just got a ROLA Special Offer goat size 42 and my pockets are 6.5 X 8.. they seem a little big but they look like some pics from raiders.. i dunno.. :?
How do I know this? I have a Wested and a G&B. Pockets on both jackets are almost the same. The Wested flaps are small but wide. The pocket looks huge. The G&B flap is cut narrow and deep. The pockets look smaller.
Cheers

This is great information!
Your observation of the pocket flap to pocket height may be a significant discovery that is making people see pockets in their sleep!
Do you have photos to support this observation? If so, I can add it to my Raider's spec thread. It does not prove or disprove anything; however it may allow people to better define what they see on screen...

8" only seems to look right with my jackets that are a bit bigger (44" and 28" back...which on a 6'2" frame seems maybe doable but imo slightly too long for raiders- just going by some cutout models I made of the pockets... obviously on your average frame (say a 5'9" or 5'10" guy) I think they'd look scary big.
I'm curious what the guys who are 6'6" or something do about upscaling o.O

Well, I'm 6'2" and have a horse hide Wested coming my way (I may already have it, but I won't be back in CT until next week I think).
I scaled up Playton's pocket design. I am a 42, Ford was a 40, so I scaled up 5%, or 1/4 inch on height and width from Playton's original specs.
I let Peter place them, a I trust him to make it look right. There are specifics for placement of the pockets that perhaps should aslo be scaled to keep the look right- as you menytioned, someone 6'6" or more will look silly with the pockets the same distance from the bottom hem (see a special deal jacket on Todd's site that looks crazy...), the size of the pockets should scale, and for extra tall people, the space below the pocket shoild scale as well in my opinion. Finally, the space betwen the storm flap and pockets (side spacing) should be scaled up as you go "wider" otherwise you have two pockets in front and a lot of leather betwen the pocket and the side vent...
