Cabela's Shirt Came in Today...

Post by Indiana O-Town »

And it FIT! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :rolling:

-ahem-

I purchased their 5XLT "close enough" Safari Shirt and much to my delight (especially after my earlier bag fiasco) it fit. The only thing I could ask for really is that the buttons were cream colored, and may be a little more length but overall I'm pretty pleased. I was sweating this soooo much. My original shirt was this horrid yellowish brown khaki "faded glory" shirt that simply would not lighten or bleach... I even tried using an entire bottle of bleach over three separate washings to lighten some dark grey khaki short sleeved work shirts I had in my closet to no avail. Thankfully Cabela's came through for me.

So for anyone out there who's a big and tall guy like me (6'3", 350lbs with most of it in the gut and chest), Cabela's will very likely come through for your budget "close enough" needs. :whip:

Glad to hear that both of you gents had good experiences. I actually just put in an order for one of those stone-colored safari shirts myself yesterday, along with a forest green of the Serengeti safari shirt. I've had a British tan Serengeti safari shirt from them for several months, and have really enjoyed it for all sorts of conditions (including a dig this summer).

How does it breath? I'm a little concerned about the polyester content :? (which is why so far I've only had the 100% cotton Serengeti safari shirt), so I'd be interested to hear what you think of yours so far.

:) best wishes,
Nebraska Schulte

Fear not Schulte, I too have a cabela's safari shirt, and it is very rugged and comfortable. As far as breathable goes, did I mention I wore it through the summer in Phoenix, AZ? I really need to get more of these... I have sweat it out and it drys quick in a light breeze, the poly blends works well like my Columbia hinking shirts from REI. Good luck trying to rip it or even stain it, i am pleasently suprised at how durable it really is. As an added bonus, wash and hang to dry... no wrinkles 8)

I've always been a fan of the Cabela's Safari shirt (I'm actually wearing one in my avatar) - lots of color choices, tough as nails, wash and wear, and relatively affordable - I've got one that I received for Xmas in'04 and with regular winter wear it still looks like the day I bought it. The only trick I found (for me) was to get the tall size - I'm 6'1" and the sleeves on the regular large go pretty high when I stretch out my arms, not to mention the shirt tails sometimes untuck. Got a Large/Tall and was good to go...

It wouldn't take much effort to swap out all the buttons for ones that you like better. Just pick up a handful at a fabric store, along with a spool of thread and a needle, and do it yourself. Or take the buttons up to a tailor and have them do it.

I've been doing so much with fabrics lately that all the little old ladies up at the fabric store know me on sight.
