Quick close enough pants?

Post by Terrasolo »

hey guys, my brother is trying to piece together an Indy outfit for halloween and having trouble fining a good pair of pants. I have heard a few mentioned before, but was wondering if anyone could point me to some of them again.

Specifically one with a good color match.

Oh and if I get a good one I'll post some pics after the big day. he is borrowing what gear I have but he can't fit into my Todds shirt (he's a bit more built than I am) and he has to pad the hat a bit (small brain ;) ) which is only an official commercialized hat till my Camptown is done. But he'll have the MK bag and web belts.

He's planning on putting cob webs all over him for a proper field work look ;)

Here's a good link for one with decent color matching:

I purchased some used wested pants afterward and compared the two. It's not an exact match for officer pinks but as far as khaki's go, I haven't seen a better match myself.

I found a pair of sturdy dickies I didn't know I still even fit in, and just got two boxes of RIT dark brown, and they came out well enough... although that's probably more hassle then it's worth for people who can shop at "regular size" stores then big guys like me.

Here's a thread I started- trying to find the closest enough close enoughs...

I think there is some useful information here now.

Wal Mart has some (i got a pair) that are a grayish-brown color (Bark I think they call it) $15.00/pair! Lee brand I think...

Search around a bit and you will find many options...

More info on just how the pants are actually worn... This has a lot to do with acheiving the correct 'look'...

No problem! That's what we're all here for.

I will say that the pants are difficult to get all the elements in one pair of pants...

I think Magnoli was working on a pair of machine washable Indy pants a while ago, but I have no idea what ever happened with that... (that is what I want to get!)

I just bought a pair of 'Lee' khakis with an incredibly good 'pinks' color, and they're pleated and hemmed (not cuffed). No pocket flaps, but you can't have everything. These are definitely 'good enough'. Look for them wherever 'Lee' khakis are sold. The model is 4181220 - at least that's the boldest number on the tag other than the size. Maybe I can put up a pic tomorrow if I can get one that shows the color right.

I'll second the Lee's from Kohl's. Mine arrived last week and they look pretty good for $20.

You can order online at: http://tinyurl.com/6ah5rc

That's the one, alright. I got mine at Kohl's too. I find they run a tad big. some 34s are tight on me but these were actually a little loose, which is actually good for the right 'drape'. Plus it gives some shrinkage room for washing. If you were to use these only for IJ purposes, it may be better to have them dry-cleaned to preserve that color.

I just bought a pair of taupe colored khakis at Target for $10.99. They were made by Wrangler, "Legendary Gold", I believe. Not nearly an exact match, but I ain't tearing up a good pair of Indy pants just for Halloween. I plan on putting some holes in them and dirtying them up a bit, so these work great.

question for anyone who bought these. I just went to Khols to check these Lee twig pants out and sadly had no luck finding any of them so I thought I would try online, but it's been my experience that sometimes khaki pants run small. So my question is this, for those that bought the Twig pants, have you found that your normal size, say jean size, is what you bought? or did you end up getting larger or smaller pants in the twig?

Talking both waist and length here.

Terrasolo, I ordered the Lee twig pants from Kohl's online, and I ordered my normal size and they fit very well.

For reference, I'm 6'4" and 200 lbs.; I ordered the Lee pants size 36" waist and 34" inseam. I generally get jeans and other pants with a 35 or 36" waist and 34 - 36" inseam. When I ordered from Kohl's, I was worried the pants would not be long enough, but they fit very well.

well that's not what I wanted to hear lol. sorry but yeah I did miss that. oh well I guess the good part is that they are returnable to the store.

Oh and just so everyone knows, my Brother bought pants and he thinks "will do", so these are now for me. I'll try one more Khols before I look online.
