Todd's costumes boots?!

Bags, Boots, Shirts and all other gear should be discussed here.

I can't compare them to other shoes. Sorry - I just don't know.

Sorry, I just don't have time to do more pictures. They look just like Aldens from all angles - you've seen them before. The only difference is that the welt extends abround the heel like a regular shoe.

Sorry, we don't plan to do other sizes. This isn't a large enough volume product to do half sizes and wide sizes.

I didn't want to sound arrogant before Puppetboy, just VERY curious about this pair of shoes! Can you at least tell us what colour they are or should we wait till the first customers will post some pictures?
If there was my size I would have probably been the first already

Yeah, I admit they're not small but other than running into spots where the size has been sold out I've never had a problem with a place not carrying the size at all.

Because of this now I feel like I'm King Kong or something......

The boots do look great and the price is perfect. I can't wait to see how these look on everyone else. ;-)

ORDERED! I really like the color. When I got on here and saw a comment about seeing a photo, I immediately opened another tab and had Todd's site up. Ordered immediately and am one happy camper.:whip:

Nice boots indeed. Just one question though, if I am a size 91/2 am I out of luck or were the shoes made as a sort of in between the sizes?

I notice they $74.95 on the site, but when you check-out through Paypal they are $79.99. Is that to cover your Paypal fees Puppetboy? It's still a more than fair price.

Fixed.

We're still working on yesterday. You'll get it.

I ain't saying nothing.
Just one question though, if I am a size 91/2 am I out of luck or were the shoes made as a sort of in between the sizes?
I hope they're not inbetween sizes. Usually in this situation you order the next 1/2 size up.
Well if they are successiful I hope that Puppetboy will expand the size availability.
If the volume is sufficient I certainly will. The factory has minimum orders to justify making a last.
Can you at least tell us what colour they are

Can I make a poll with the missing sizes? Perhaps if we collect enough people willing to buy certain sizes you could add those to the list. What do you think?

Anyway thanks again for the shoes, under $80 is frigging awesome!

Ha, I had the same experience, though, I did notice the price difference. It mattered not, I was ordering regardless!

Must say I applaud Todd for correcting what could have been a nice extra profit for him.

I placed an order for a pair in size 11D about an hour ago. I also noticed Todd's added a pretty nice looking ROTLA pocket knife to his inventory, so I couldn't resist - had to add that to my order too.

Absolutely! I'd like to know if people would rather have half sizes or wide sizes. I already hear that a lot of you have size 13 stompers.
I wonder how sharp that knife is.
They come with a pretty decent edge, but like most new knives, they're not shaving sharp. I did sharpen one up and it took a really nice edge. I'm going to use it as much as possible to see how it holds.

I hate knives that don't keep an edge. The last Kershaw I bought was awful.

Oh, yeah, the $5 discrepancy was my mistake. Only a few of you were affected before I got it fixed. If we overlook your refund, email us so we can fix it.

For now is about half sizes mostly, we will see about the width, it would be great to have half sizes for a start.

Puppetboy wrote:J!m,

I've got to step in here and gently, carefully, and tactfully suggest a possible reply submitted humbly and with the greatest respect for you all, as I know you all to be the best of the best, the bravest and finest Indy fans in all the galaxy.

I've been wearing my "costume" jacket for a full year now. I've intentionally been rough on it to test it. It's only gotten better and more comfortable with age. Not one thing has failed on it. Is that a costume jacket? Have I been wearing a "costume" all this time? It looks like a "real" jacket, it smells like a "real" jacket, it wears like a "real" jacket... It is a lightweight jacket, but I believe it to be similar in weight to the film jackets. In fact, I've had this confirmed.

In summary, I humbly submit that calling it a "costume" jacket gives members (especially new members) the impression that they can't wear it as an everyday garment, when in fact, most of my customers DO wear them as everyday garments.

Over the year, we have made improvements in materials and details with the manufacturer, and now I am quite proud of it. We've found a leather that I think is absolutely perfect - in fact, I've asked the factory to NEVER change it. I think it is dead-on to the screen jacket, it's brown all the way through, and has a glossier finish, perfect for distressing. We also changed the pocket lining to flannel, which is perfect and will be more durable.

On to the boots. Yes, the width is medium. Yes, the are "real" boots, made by a "real" boot manufacturer using "real" leather and "real" soles. The company making these manufactures shoes for major brands all over the world.

I think many on this board are far too quick to label garments that don't meet their very high (and sometimes unrealistic) expectations as "costume" garments (or leather gear). I'm not the only recipient of this label, either, many other good vendors get this label placed on their products as well, and I think possibly a smidgen, just a smidgen, unfairly.

Of course, feel free to call anything you want, anything you want. We are all free to our opinions, you know, one man's trash is another man's treasure and all...

Just my humble, respectfully submitted opinion, with no disrepect meant to anyone living or dead, past present or future, I love you all - each and every one - don't ever forget that - I mean it. What's mine is yours, come stay with me for as long as you want. I'll be your alibi, no questions asked. Hugs and kisses. Don't mind me...

Todd

Todd,

You have done alot of good for the fans, and hopefully it has been reciprocated? You're a prime example of a fan and vendor who makes things affordable so the fan does not have to spend mega bucks on collecting articles of the gear. You're sort of the 'Henry Ford' of the gear! Not only that, but I've been impressed with your commitment to accuracy! The Raiders jacket is arguably the most accurate out there right now. The boots, a fan can get four pairs for the price of 1 pair of Alden's. That's a bargain by anyone's standards! All in all, your philosophy is really the heart of the matter. Wallets can breathe an easier sigh of relief. 8)

Texan Scott,

Thanks for the kind words. I am a fan and a screen-acccuracy nut, so I understand what most of you want. I also am not rich, so price is the most important thing to me.

Fortunately, with Indy IV this spring, it allowed me to invest in some of these more expensive endeavors. My mission in life is to bring the fans a great value for their money. I'm proud of all of my products. Some of them are hard to beat for any price (my opinion).

Remember, the stuff used on screen were not the ultimate best quality clothes or accessories. I would rather have it like it really was, the good, the bad, and the ugly. But that's just me.

Thanks for putting up the poll. Perhaps we can do another one to find out whether people would rather have half sizes or wide widths. For me, wide widths are more important. I can wear a half size bigger if it's wide enough.

I am really excited about these boots. The price is great, but will have to wait until payday which is on the 30th, so I can't have them in time for Halloween. Great alternative to Aldens. Good work Mr. Coyle!

Todd,

Are the shoes labeled in European sizes as well? I was looking though my shoes last night trying to figure out my shoe size, and I noticed that even though my US sizes varied, my European size stayed about the same.

I am eagerly anticipating my boots to arrive, recieved my shipping notice today.

I need to add that I have been extremely happy with all gear ordered from Todd with the exception of the whip and Todd rectified that purchase with excellent customer service. I would also like to add that I have most of Todd's gear, jacket, shirt, both belts, holster, whip holder, bag w/strap, and several accesories. Todd's customer service is second to no one, his prices are almost impossible to beat and the gear is far from being a "costume" piece. If I can sell my Linder knife for close to the original purchase price I will add his Raiders knife to my collection as well.
