Anthony DeLongis on G4tv's "Attack of the Show"

Post by FloatinJoe »

I'm sorry I didn't post this sooner.

I got an email from Anthony this morning. It turns out he did a live segment on G4tv's "Attack of the Show" today. The piece was entitled "Whip Training Time".
Abstract:
Anthony Delongis, the man who taught Indiana Jones himself how to wield a bullwhip, comes by to try and show us how to similarly acquit ourselves with the ancient whippy weapon.
The piece not only shows some basic moves, but it has Anthony demonstrating some of the "combative applications of the bullwhip at multiple ranges" that impressed Harrison Ford enough for him to be selected as the whip coach for the film.

As a side note, he mentions that he was voted "Weapons Instructor of the Year 2008".

The video is available here.

I realize that the whip Tony is using is a Terry Jacka. However, what length do you think he is using (6-7 ft.)???

Just Curious.

I would guess 7 or 8 maybe, just based on having seen a bunch of those at his ranch. :-k

That wasn't his standard performance whip that he used on Good Morning America back during Indy Premiere week. I believe that one is a 10-footer, but not sure. Also, the fall on this one was relatively long. I'd say this one was an 8-footer. Just a guess.

The one from GMA was seven feet I do believe, based on the fact it had one band of mylar tape denoting it's length. Eight feet is two bands. And there was apparently VERY little room on stage for whip work.

For some reason, I thought the one Mylar was the 10-footer. OOPS.
