All in good fun. I really didn't take it seriously at all. I will be happy to provide as much info as time and equipment allow.

I know there is a limit of images per thread, I don't want to go over that. Should I start another thread or is this one of those occurrences when the limit will be waived?

No, just show the 6 photo limit, then post links to the extra so folks can access them that way.

In your case, just posting links would work best, since you've already shared 6....but in this special case, another '6' won't hurt in my opinion....then extra links if you have them.

We have a quorum. One hall 'adm' and moderator have voted that you get to post more than 6.

Yeah, 6 is usually the limit with all the links you want, as we've had situations where folks have posted DOZENS of photos in a thread, and it actually locked up the site!

Hense, the 6 photo limit, unless it's a special situation and the administration has been contacted. This is a special situation. ;-)

Please try and do some bigger shots with more light, outside if possible. The limit is 640 x 480 but can be much bigger if you post links.

Hmmmm. These tiny pics are certainly not helping to win me over on this.
Martin Grace received a jacket from Leather Concessionaries “Order #3” which according to the write-up on the main page, was an EXACT copy of the prototype jacket which ended up being Ford’s “Hero” jacket. This Nowak replica has the incorrect placement of the sleeve seam relative to the yoke seam and as such, implies that the Martin Grace jacket being used is not the one from “Order #3” otherwise I’m sure Tony would have created the junction between the seams correctly.

I would love to see a photo of the Martin Grace jacket next to one of Tony’s replicas. That would help to win over those of us who have some doubts about this. I don’t need to see labels or intricate details that would potentially de-value the original, I just want to see how close he got with his replica and how close is the leather color and appearance to the original.

The pictures aren't great but as a screen grab nazi that I am, must say that I think the shoulders are too wide (shoulder to shoulder measurement) and also I don't think the pocket flaps are SA.

Also, this can't be the hero jacket as the pockets aren't spaced correctly as per below

Image

See for yourself

I see also that the collar is completely different. More like a G&B.
Other than that, nice stuntman jacket.

Here's the details I personally would like to see in pics:

- collar and storm flap junction.
- bottom of zipper on non-pull side
- yolk seam and arm seam
- patch pocket
- strap configuration & depth of action pleat
- a few pics with a human wearing the jacket.

the golden question is:

can a stuntman's jacket be modified to emulate the hero jacket? i'm sure TN is more than capable of fielding the requests......but do we really want to send a shopping list to him as we do to peter? isn't driving one man crazy enough for us stitch nazis?

if we do get a jacket with all of the mods put in to make it more 'hero-ish' we will be tainting the original design that the jacket came from, a true martin grace stunt jacket. i wish uncle george would just give mr. nowak the hero jacket for a day.......just one day!!!!

the selling point for me was that if i took this plunge, there would be no need for further raiders jackets. i fear that if i do go ahead with this purchase...then somewhere down the line, someone will come with that perfect hero jacket.........i still think todd's custom is the closest yet as far as the specs go.

so much to think about.......need some meds before i decide :?

Yeah, it's no golden question. G&B did it years ago.

Not so. As I stated in my earlier post, Tony said he only used the MG jacket as the Leather Concessionaires had inconsistencies to it.

The only real question is going to be if you have the means to pony up the dough to buy one of these. It’s hard to judge the jacket based on the pics. The lambskin leather (from the pics) looks like the same stuff that US Wings uses. That’s not a bad thing. I’m sure it’s a great jacket just based on the fact that Tony built it. However, from my point of view it is not the Holy Grail of Raiders jackets, nor do I think there ever will be.

From my point of view this jacket has many similarities to the G&B Expedition. Both were made from stunt jackets & both are well made. The differences are that with the Tony jacket you get perhaps more custom sizing and a different hide choice from G&B. The Tony also costs twice the price of the G&B.

The interesting thing about a “screen accurate” jacket is that it doesn’t suit everyone. Many would argue that TODD’s jacket is the most screen accurate choice out there. He took Paterson’s notes (the same one’s used for the Expedition), and then he used his own eye to modify the jacket to be more in line with the hero jacket. The problem is that the jacket doesn’t fit everyone. It’s really made for a Harrison Ford slim build. I’ve never seen a jacket that produced so many sizing threads. But Todd gave you what you asked for. To be honest, the only reason I never bothered with a TODD’s is that they are lower on the scale of well-made jackets than what I like. But that’s screen accurate too. The og Raiders jackets by all accounts were not well crafted garments either.

Considering that I’m a Raiders man, I might have to visit Tony’s shop and check one of these out. He’s only ten minutes away.

G&B did not have a jacket to work from (beyond one of Lee Keppler's). Todd and Magnoli had Expeditions to work from (not to take anything away from him).

they either did not do enough or stopped doing it long ago. imo, the TN raiders is an expo with better leather (screen wise) and closer pedigree as i don't know "how far from the light" G&B strayed to get their jacket real world ready.

ok....so perhaps the holy grail of jackets (based on what we have seen today) will take:

- TN's leather and distressing
- todd's design specifications
- G & B's construction specifications
- and wrap it up with peter's prices

 ...........a search for this jacket is a search for the devine in us all...........

Not what I expected. To be fair, the pics of this new jacket are not the best for one to be able to see how raiders-like this offering actually is. From what I see, it looks like a well made leather jacket, but...

Remember when that first Todd's custom was posted on COW? Of course you do. Now that was a Raiders jacket. Again, until we get some better pics of this new TN jacket, I'm going to have to say that this is not what I expected.

But you know what? If the buyer likes it, nothing else matters.

Todd's is a winner.
And you forget that Todd has a custom jacket option for only half the price of TN where you can get all the features YOU want.

And you know what I think (or what reason dictartes) about the hero jacket?

Three possibilities about its whereabouts

1. Harrison Ford has it.
2. George Lucas has it as long with every other stunt jacket left, but he has them all mixed so that he can no longer tell which one is the hero jacket (forget the names what the tags, they re all wrong)
3. It was auctioned or sold.

Out of the three, I choose no 1 because if I was in HF shoes I would have taken it no matter what.

Of course, I may be wrong, this is all guessing. You gotta listen to the mods for more accurate info.

One more thing I would like to add, when you see the hero jacket you will recognize it from the strap buckles.

What I meant is that in the article I read:
The hero jacket resides in George Lucas’ office at Skywalker Ranch
So, there are two hero jackets, or someone is wrong here. Just curious to know where's the truth. :-k
