Best costume jacket?

A few months ago (May08 I think.. gee I wonder why) I was thinking about getting a jacket that was a good jacket and accurate. Now I just want a costume jacket. Would Todd's be the best choice?

Todd's is NOT a costume jacket. It may be thin, but the jacket is very well constructed and the attention to detail given to it by Todd is outstanding. It can also take a heck of a beating. Also, it's definitely up there as one of the most accurate replicas out there.

Now, being that you said you want a "COSTUME" jacket...sure...
I know the perfect place. Your local halloween store.
Now THAT is a costume jacket

Falco - does that have the leather facings? How long was the line to get to those jackets? I may have to order one, but my upper limit is also around $150, and a jacket like that is probably well out of my range.

And it's even got that cool embroidery!

Are you trying to say that jacket isn't SA? I thought all characters in the movies embroidered their name on the front of their outfits!

With that jacket I guess you would need Indiana Jones embroidered on it, so people would actually know who you are trying to be.

I bought a Todd's just as part of a costume but now I wear it as a regular Jacket as well. You won't be disappointed.

Well, if you wear your Todd's daily, then I swear you'd be wearing this AwEsOmE jacket all day, night, sleep, while showering, saving puppies, even when your wearing a short sleeve shirt it some how manages to be right underneath it!!!

actually, this is a conversation i was having with a friend of mine as we passed the halloween shop last week. we saw the indy jacket, and decided that *if* one were so inclined, you could make a good argument for that statement:

1) does it look vaguely similar to the real thing? sure.
2) has it been designed in such a way that someone who wasn't a hardcore fan might not see anything particularly wrong with it? pretty much.
3) does it carry the weight and prestige of a genuine brand name? yep, it's right there, front and center.

so, you could make a decent argument that the faux leather costume jacket is fairly analogous with KOTCS as a film- i.e., they're both *kind of* the same as the originals... but upon close inspection (or even marginal inspection), not really.

the caveat here is that this is all hypothetical, and doesn't necessarily reflect my personal views on the matter. just food for thought, that's all.

Well that costume jacket is what it is....but all kidding aside its has a nice looking fit and drape to it. I wish my current Indy was cut that way. Is it inexpensive?

I might have to get one that fits me just right so I could ship to vendors in the future for them to use as a guide for the cutting/sizing/fitting of my future jacket orders.

it's cool man, don't deny your opinions, just come out and say it! I don't think there's a person here that will tell you KOTCS was better than any of the preceding films, unless they discovered the series with it...

I agree, the Todds Standard is CLEARLY the best choice if you want a reasonably priced SA costume jacket that as a bonus can work as a lightweight jacket.

If being Indy is a just a one night thing, then you can probably acheive the same effect with a much cheaper alternative, I know I wouldn't spend $150 for just part of a costume. Realistically, so long as you have a fedora-like hat, a dark brown fabric/leather shirt/jacket, and a whip-like object, you are Indy for 99% of folks. Only us 1%ers will tsk tsk you for not being more SA

But if you have the $150, I think you will be VERY happy with Todds standard. It is well made, LOOKS fantastic, and for us southern types, is thin and cool enough to wear in 70 degree weather. It won't keep you warm up north though, nor would I expect it to survive 2 months hiking the Appalacian Trail.

You could try a couple of vendors on ebay for a "costume jacket" but after shipping they will would not be much cheaper than Todd's jacket. If you order from Todd you will get one of the most SA jackets on the market, for $150.00, and if your size is in stock it will definitely arrive before October 31. As others have said Todd's jacket is far more than a costume piece. It is a very well constructed jacket that can be worn daily in cool but not cold weather.

Well I'm in a pinch for halloween. I'm probably gonna just use the one I got at burger king if I can't find one locally.

In the future I'd like to get one from purewhips.com unless I get rich then I'd get a David Morgan

I'm kinda skeptical about that costume jacket. It looks like it would be a costume piece because of the lining on the inside (or lack of) but it does look pretty good

Good call. As for the fake jacket, I'm actually impressed, especially after seeing how wrong they get everything else, the jacket doesn't look half bad, but I wouldn't expect to be able to use it for more than one night!
