My H&S 1942 Mk. VII Bag...No Photos Yet

Post by RonC »

Washed my original Mk. VII bag last night and hung it out in the sun to dry today. It has a few stains and scars...but then, so do I! It has a lot of character. I just finished putting my Keppler strap on it, and it looks great! My WPG bag now has its original strap installed on it, and will now serve as my "back-up" bag. Will try to get pics soon for all to see.

I got an H&S too. Looks like I'm parting with it for cash. Lets all thank ISU for raising tuition every chance they get! Anyway, I was dissappointed that it wasn't unissued like I had expected, however... the price was great for what is still a great bag.

Here it is, dated 1942.

Paul, I do like mine! Too bad you're having to part with yours...but I do remember college tuition! The canvas in my H&S Mk. VII is slightly heavier than the material in my WPG Mk. VII, and I like that. I'm debating on whether to leave the divider in the large internal pocket...so far, it stays.

Greenest bag I've come across so far! Its much darker than the pics make it seem. Maybe I should adjust them for my auction. I don't understand why villagephotos keeps locking the account for the day... the one at the top will be back by tomorrow.

I have taken the bags to people in the textile field and they believe it's linen. Image

I would be VERY carful when cutting the center divider out of the bag. Image I did that and cut a hole right through the back of my bag. Image

I used the center divider as a patch on the back and my mother helped me sew it in place. Whew. Image

Swindy, my bag is just a few shades "greener" than my WPG bag...more of a tannish-olive color. I do like the color, though.

Pyro, it may be linen, but is definitely a lightweight canvas, if it is canvas. I'm probably going to leave the divider in, as it is not getting in the way.
