My new Wested

Post by KY Jones »

My HH Wested Raiders arrived today. Perfect! I'm having trouble getting my pics to resize correctly in photobucket so I'll have to post them later. Just wanted all to know it came in and it's great. Fit is perfect, craftsmanship too. Think I'll wear it to bed. Less than three weeks between order and receipt. Finally, a leather coat that fits! (Been awhile since I've had one.)
Best,
Ky

Holt, you think horsehide is the most colour accurate to Raiders? (or very close)
If not, what do you consider? It seems a dark brown washed goat might be it.

Cheers

its my perosnal taste.

i find the HH is very close to what I see on screen.dark lamb is close to HH.

the washed goat rcoks..but it has to dull finish for a raiders.it is very good for a LC IMO

Thanks, mate. The HH does look great.
Hope it's not too thick though. Recently sold a cowhide that weighed a tonne!
(Sorry to derail the thread)

Btw, KY Jones, wearing a new jacket to bed for a night or two is a great way to get all the appropriate wrinkles! I did it with my new, two-weeks-old Todd's jacket and it looks SUPERB already, like i've had it for a year!

I second that! Did you order Dark Brown or Authentic Brown? (Or is there only one option with HH?)

jacket

Post by KY Jones »

Thanks, Holt. I REALLY like it. It's been years since I've had a leather jacket. Just dug out my old one and gave it to my oldest son. He can still fit into it (my youngest son shot up to 6'2" and can't wear any of my clothes-which is a relief!) I looked at what was available and it seemed the Wested was the best deal for the money. It's not a "custom" so I was suprised at how well it fit. Even the arm length is perfect. I'll try to get some pics wearing it, if anyone is interested in seeing it on my chubby little form.

Best,
KY

the HH is suppose to be only 1 color. it is a cross between aut. and DB.

when I ordered my LC in HH I asjed for the warmest brown batch in stock.lucky for me they found some.

when I ordered my raiders HH I ask for the thinnest and darkest batch in stock.again...lucky for me that they could source out some..

but I think you should be VERY lucky to get the darkest or the thinnest batch or the warmest brown. the have only 1 color.

yes I know.pretty frustrating if you ask me.

just look at strones pictures of the redish lambskin against the browner lambskin..sometimes the hide come with different shades and undertones.

like the hide of the jacket from KY above..it has the warmer color like my LC HH

and I bet that KY used flash while taking the pictures.it makes it look browner

in real life it is more darker,I will bet on it.

I have to agree that it's a terrific color and the HH should last for years. Am I correct that you ordered the OTR Raiders in HH? I have thought of doing that myself.

hh jacket

Post by KY Jones »

Yes, Holt, i did have to use a flash for the pics. conceited, you are correct, it's an OTR Raider. Beautiful dark brown. It's been rainy here so I haven't even seen it in true light yet. Feels great, and yes, it's heavy, but not as heavy as my old Berman's cowhide A2. I turn 55 this month, so this jacket should last the rest of my life (hopefully a long one! I have many more adventures i wish to take.) I don't think you'd be disappointed with a Wested OTR if they're all like the one I received.
Thanks,
KY
