Just though I'd ask around and see if anyone else has problems with their D Rings... For some reason, the leather keeps slipping out on the left side of my Wested. It has been doing this for the last 7 months and ONLY happens on the LEFT side and it is annoying the MOD EDIT:DONT GO AROUND THE FILTER out of me. The right side is perfectly fine. Any suggestions?
If it is a LC/CS. Cheat. I've set them the way I like and have tacked them top and bottom with a couple of vertical stitches of brown thread through the existing stitch holes. You'd never notice they were there.
Down with D-rings . There are just some things that were on the screen that don’t work in reel life. Indy 4 was a chance to rewrite the book and they failed (with regard to the “costume”). Indiana Jones never looked so dopey. Scratch that. He hasn’t looked this bad since LC.
Rundquist, I couldn't agree with you more. Starting with the Last Crusade and then obviously with the most recent debacle, the Indy films lost the feel of the serial flicks of the 30's and 40's and resorted to the feel of the more "campy" sci-fi and horror films of the 50's. IMHO
as far as d-rings go on a TN jacket......they're are just as snug as a slider or a buckle. very well designed.....accounting for the size of the d-ring and the stiffness of the leather.

okay, back on topic now.
if you like to keep the d-rings (if she's an LC jacket)......tack a stitch on the strap to lock them on the rings. you can position it strategically so that the last d-ring will cover it. that'd be your only bet if you are keeping the hardware imo.
Simply thread the straps back through the rings and nothing will slip! It really is that simple and to me, the jacket looks better for the effort(s)! Just my two cents! Have a grand day! W>
I also think the thickness and stiffness of the leather strap itself can make a difference in how well the d-rings will hold. One side strap of my US Wings slipped too. I switched to the rectangular sliders. No slippage now.

I only own one Wested Indy jacket, but I ordered with D-rings because I didn't know any different. I set the straps where they looked and felt best, and they haven't slipped at all. Granted, I've only owned it a couple of months and haven't been able to wear it a LOT, but everything's just fine. No slipping.
One thing: I have let it get real wet in a couple of rainstorms, so the straps have gotten very soft and flexible. Maybe that helps?

that usualy only helps to make them slip more. maybe you got lucky.
ok.playing around trying different methods..I found out a really effectiv one to let the straps stay in place thight with D-rings.
reverse the one D ring so you get the straigth bar on the otside of the loop.and let the other D ring that goes over the strap to hold it in place be standard installed
I can almost garantee you that the strap will stay in place.mine does not slip at all.it stays thight and secure.I mean really thight and secure.
