raiders jacket HAS leather facings
i unfortunately cannot do a screen grap. however, if you watch raiders, towards the end of the well of souls scene where indy is on the anubis statue & is about ready to go "thru that wall", when he begins rocking it, yoiu can clearly see some sort of stitched seam about 1.5 to two inches in form the right side of his jacket.
i think i discovered something new!!!

That wouldn't be a hero jacket though!

I have a couple of those myself in my jakcet.
it is not a seam but a fold or a crease, from a distance it can make the illusion of a seam.that can occure if the lining has been soaked and then for exmple left to dry bunched up somewhere.then you get that ''fold'' or ''crease'',well at least that happend to mine..and I guess something like this happend to the raiders jacket,a while back I heard a that the film jackets was given water distressing too.

leather facings are installed at the edge of the jacket where the zipper is so that the lining does not get stuck in the teeth. it also acts to reinforce the area making for a very nice non-SA drape of the jacket. it's another 'real world' modification requested by someone who wants their jackets to last 20 years....go figure....a guy who only wanted 1 indy jacket.....

The leather facing is a catch-22.
If you go without the leather facing (screen accurate) the zipper has been known to catch the lining, sometimes ripping it. Not having the facing also allows the jacket to drape properly and also gives you the slightly wavy zipper as seen in the film. If you do go with the facing it will ruin the natural drape of the jacket but it will help protect the longevity of your jackets lining and allows the zipper to always work properly.
