English Whips ordering question?

Post by jones the whip »

Can someone advise me please.
Is it normal for an order to take over 6 months to complete?
I understand that craftsmen have to take their time but this seems rather excessive to me. :-k

Does seem rather long - and i felt guilty about my 5 week waiting list!
Perhaps you should contact the whipmaker.

Are you meaning Dave from English Whips (the Whip Store)...if so then 6 months would probably not be too excessive I spoke to him a couple of months back and he was already booking work in for next year then.....

His email and his phone number is on his site....

Best Wishes

Edited:- I'm in Bedford where abouts in Beds are you?

Tony,
it is David that I've ordered with, and I do understand that he has a substantial back order. I just wanted to find out if any forum members were familiar with him. :)
David seems to be a very genuine helpful man who has given me sound advice from the start.
By the way I live in Potton, nr Biggleswade.
Cheers,
JTW.

JTW

yes I do know him so if your at all worried that it's a rip off it's not....he is as you'd guessed a genuine nice guy, I'll give him a ring in the morning and point him in your direction....

I'm sure he'll get in touch, I do know, without posting too much personal stuff on an open forum, that he had to take a chunk of time out recently due to some ill health....

Hope that settles your mind a bit

Hello JTW (and hello Tony, thank you for your call earlier tonight; sorry I missed you)

I'm glad you put your home town in this thread, because I was pretty mystified :? ... I was thinking that I'd missed an order somewhere! I have replied to the email you sent earlier today. If, by now, the email hasn't arrived, send me a private message on this group and I will copy it to you.

Best regards

Dave

Once you get your whip you'll have to pop up to Bedford Park one Sunday and I'll show you how not to use a whip :o then my Mrs can show you exactly how rubbish I am at cracking and how to use one properly :) if you fancy it that is  what length did you go for?

Best Wishes

Thanks again Tony and David - all sorted now. :)
I'm pretty sure the wife and I can meet you at Bedford park (and the Park Inn  ).
Regarding the whip, I've ordered an 8' Kangaroo thong with an 8" handle -colour whiskey.
I'll keep you informed.
Cheers
