Simple question

Post by Ravenswood »

forgive me for not troweling through the threads, but whatever happend to vegetanned leather? I'm mainly concerned with the Westeds. I mean, chrome dyed looks nice and all, but for the real SA buffs, isnt anyone clamoring for the vege-tanned?

Do you mean why aren't there more vegetable-tanned leather offerings from Wested? Well, chrome-tanned leather has greater water resistance, as water beads off the leather, while water soaks right into vegetable-tanned the way it would with a cotton t-shirt, water stain and all. Depending on who you ask, cost and availability may also be a factor...

Wested does offer a veg-tanned leather jacket (if they're still in stock), but the color is closer to a light caramel, and it's thick as you'll ever likely get with lambskin!
