A post about Dark Brown Lambskins from Wested
I JUST received my authentic brown lamb from Wested and already want to supplement it with a dark brown one as well. I don't hear much about this choice around here. At least not lately.
It looks more SA to me in many ways. I think this is most likely due to the distressing process and the shoe polish or whatever they rubbed on it. Any opinions from people who own one would be appreciated. Is it buttery soft like my authentic lamb? Does it distress well? Does is look BLACK in real life? Photos are deceiving.
Input is appreciated, thanks!

Hey COW, I just joined up after a year of lurking around...
I received my first Wested three weeks ago, a dark brown lamb raiders, and it is gorgeous. Definitely browner than black and soft as a baby's bottom.
Maybe softer.
After a light alcohol treatment and getting it soaked in a rainstorm it looks more SA than authentic brown to me...
I have pics but how do you post them?

When I ordered my Wested I spent a lot of time debating over which color to go with...I even had wested send me samples of leather to decide. I picked the dark brown because I found it to look more SA than the authentic and thats what I wanted was the darker look. Heres a pic from the first day I got my wested.

and a pic of my jacket a year later with my AB on.

I couldn't be happier with the color of my jacket, I only wish it was about an inch longer in the back.

in the first picture your jacket looks like the Horsehide...
really nice jacket.LOVE the color
the jacket looks shorter cause of the clothing you have hanging below the jacket...tuck that in and it looks longer..I think...looks great in the first picture...
and I love those sleeves..
what size is it..and whats the back length?

so its a 44 80's cut..hmm...Indiana Kev wrote:Thanks Holt! I love the look and feel of this jacket, very soft and comfortable. For the sleeves I ordered them to be a bit longer as I really hate sleeves that are too short. The jacket size is a 44 80s cut and the back panel is just a touch of 25 inches long.
Gotta love that dark brown lamb!
intersting..
thats what I am going to order on my next....did you ask for wider sleeves? tapered sleeves??
any pictures of the back?

Thanks for the kind words, guys!
The jacket is about three years old. As for distressing, what HAVEN'T I done?!?
Sandpaper, steel wool, water, acetone, tumbled around in the dryer, rubbing alcohol, rolling around in the dirt, rolling around on rocks, rubbing up against cinder block walls, you name it, I've probably done it to this poor jacket.
It's hard to believe, after everything I've done to it, that this is my favorite piece of gear, and favorite piece of clothing.

Nothing special on the sleeves, just standard although I did order mine a bit longer than most people.Indiana Holt wrote:

Keeping the other half happy ...
That's what I'm considering too - but then I just sit here undecided as I watch the exchange rate rise!indy89 wrote:Ok, thanks guys. I plan on buying a Wested in the next month, so I just wanted to get that cleared up. I think I'm just gonna get the authentic brown goatskin. Not too heavy, but not too lightweight
Plus I have two hats on order and when the wife sees me staring at jackets on the web for evenings on end, she says "and what do I get?"!
