I am surprised more people don't like this one. I ordered it and it looks darn close. I have mine gettting died darker brown for $30. For $99 it's close enough...

How do those fit? I wear 10.5 in mostly everything. Would a 10 be too small?

EVERY site I went to doesn't have a 10.5 D shoe. Odd

I just returned your PM, but for everyone else, here is what I said...

I wear a 10 1/2 for all my shoes except NIKE's, then I wear a 11. The 10 1/2's on Amazon were all sold out so I had to get 11's and they fit PERFECT! So go a 1/2 size larger. luckily I had no choice but it worked out perfectly. They're really comfy as well! I am having these dyed dark brown and I will then age and scuff them up. After that I will post pics, but it will take 2 weeks to get these back from the shoe place.

Yeah, normal. I have fairly normal feet, not wide or narrow so the D's were fine for me.

Not sure. I took them to the shoe dying place. I remember they are solid rubber souls. Not sure how that works, but I doubt they are replacable.

Goodyear welt-

The Goodyear welt is a method of attaching the sole of a shoe to the upper. This currently used method is built upon the earlier inventive work of shoe manufacturer Christian Dancel (1847-1898). The upper is drawn over the last and held temporarily whilst a strip of leather (the welt) is stitched to the upper and inner sole. The sole is hand-stitched through the Welt to complete the process. This construction allows multiple sole replacements, extending the life of the footwear.

I'm planning to get the Cabela's close-enoughs for my husband's Indy outfit. He does a lot of fishing, and I think the Gore-Tex waterproofing will be nice for that. Plus I can get Cabela's gift cards with my Discover Card cashback bonus, so they'll be essentially free!

I quite like those too. FYI sprtsmansguide dot com has very similar for $100.

I had a pair of these from reenacting will be using them until some affordable mocassin toe'd boots com along.

Rockport Farnums seem to be the "close enough" Indy boot of choice for most people but, considering they're no longer being manufactured, it's often difficult to find them in the proper size and color. And for every COW member who says they run 1/2 size large there's another member who says they are true to size, so ordering online can be a roll of the dice.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Todd's Costumes comes up with. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they'll be available any time soon.

Rockport Farnums do not run true to size; they are about a half size too big. Besides this site has them for $69 plus $7 shipping; that's a great price. They have them in many sizes and width D and E in both Dark Tan and Dark Chocolate. I have both of my pairs in Dark Chocolate.

I agree it's a great price, but according to their website they currently only have them in Dark Chocolate in three sizes (9.5W, 10W, and 10.5W) and Dark Tan in one size only (9.5W). IMO three sizes, all of them wide, does not constitute "many".

Sorry, my bad. I didn't know you had to actually select the size and then add to cart to find out which sizes were actually in stock. Most sites have that info handy before you actually select your size and then find out its out of stock.

Not a problem; I found it quite odd myself that their website is set up that way. I wish they actually had all of those sizes in stock so I could get a pair.
