Wow, now one of those would be cool to own if you wanted a whip like his from KOTCS... 8)

Did I miss something while watching the movie? I was reading the paragraph where Anthony De Longis was talking about why he choose the whip and adding new moves to HF whip style and I didn't see any of that in the film. In fact we really didn't get to see Indy use his whip as much as we did in the other films......So what gives? Is there footage of him using the whip more lying on the cutting room floor? :?

It's ok IndyWhips. Just make sure you do a search on stuff like that before posting. If something like this wasn't on the bullwhip forum, it's most likely in the Vendor Announcements.

Tony,

I didn't know Jacka's site was up and running until you posted this, so thanks for posting!

I did see the vendor announcement post a while back, but it's halfway through that thread before it says that the site is up and running. As a dedicated whip nerd, I really only stay on top of the bullwhip forum anyway.

People try to keep up!

Anyway, Since it was more a vendor announcement I put the original announcement where I thought it belong, for the record though I did mention Terry’s site in the thread about my CS whip too

Pitfall, the Crystal Skull bullwhip is a cool whip to own! \:D/
There was a lot more whip work originally intended though. I posted a bit about it here on COW at
viewtopic.php?t=29877
Some was filmed, some never made it past storyboards. You can still see some clips of Harrison Ford working the TJ bullwhip on set in the behind the scenes video footage clips at
http://www.iesb.net/index.php?option=co ... nk&id=1036
And here is a still photo from the graveyard that was originally going to take place.

Another original proposed bullwhip stunt called for Indiana Jones to use his bullwhip to grab a Ugha warriors boliadora out of his hand as it was spinning in the air. Then Indy would sling shot the whip and the boliadora it around himself to hit another warrior. Unfortunately for us the producers of the film decided to omit this scene all together but this is how it was set up to go.

Harrison certainly had the skill, and the potential to do something really impressive was there but disappointingly the filmmakers decided to go in another direction when all was said and done.

I saw that one shot in the "Making of" book that came out during the summer so I knew they had at least rehearsed some stuff but I didn't know if any of it ever got filmed and then got cut....

I still don't understand why they had HF rehearse so much with it and then turn around cut most of the action with him using the whip. I figured since they were downplaying the gunplay in the film they'd at least "up" the whip action. :?

That boliadora action scene does sound cool..... 8)

Ah, well......I guess the best thing to do is just buy one of Terry's whips and go out and make-up your own whip action scenes you would have liked to have seen in the film.

Thanks for the info, Bullwhip. :)

Unfortunately I know a few of the whys, but I can’t really discuss them . I will say the lack of whip work had nothing to do with what Anthony or Harrison wanted to do though and there was some dispute over whether or not to do all the whip work with CGI. Maybe if we are lucky though Harrison will pick up where he left off with the whip in Indy 5 and wow us! One can hope!

Any way, I’ve been helping Terry with his site a bit where i can, he also has a local friend developing it but is only able to add to it on weekends so it's progressing slowly. The rest of the whip prices where just added in this past week, but I thought the site looked very good.

Thats a whole other world over there, I think it might even be a more active board than this one, I've been trying to read the first few pages a bit at a time since....I'm much confused

 the fedora board seems slow as of late becuase of the TN raiders jacket announcement and all the TOD jacket hoopla

bending oak and marc are keeping it alive with penman hats and the AB factory hat......hopefully, i'll have an addition to make there in the next week as well :D

now to get back on topic, i received an e-mail this morning from terry with a picture of my unfinished whip (unvarnished and unrolled)....kinda funny without the varnish as it looked almost nylon to my eye. regardless, based on my ordering experience with terry, he provides excellent customer service and is very accomodating for us kooky fans

....something about whip makers and whip enthusiasts......they're all really nice, selfless people.........well, the ones that i've talked to that is. cheers folks,

Well Indiana G, Like with anything, the world of whip cracking has its share of jerks and egomaniacs too  (and their are probably some who think that way about me :P ) but I think we are very fortunate to have a pretty good crowd of whip enthusiasts and makers involved with Club Obi Wan and Indy gear..

I consider Terry a friend and have thoroughly enjoyed corresponding with him over the last year, especially in regards to the Indy 4 whip project and the website. He has been nothing but helpful, generous and accommodating. He is a very traditional whip maker who wants to make the best whips he can and not disappoint his customers. Considering how busy he was to start with, He has really bent over backwards and has gone the extra mile be able to produce whips for us directly. So with that said, How’s your unfinished CS whip looking so far? Now that the majority of it is done it really shouldn’t be too much longer now.
