Todd's Standard Sizing
Okay I am on the verge of buying Todd's Standard jacket and I know that the sizes fir snugger. Can anyone please give me some advice on what size I should go for. I am 5' 11", 160lbs and I usually take a 38 size in a jacket, would be better off in between a 36 and 38. His Small size fits those measurements but I just want to be sure.

Ok, woah, don't get a small! I'm 5'9" and 130 lbs. and I have a medium, and it nearly looks as if it were custom tailored to me. Before I got mine, I almost got a small. I called Todd and told him my body size, etc. and he said medium. I can tell you right now that a small would be too short. And that's just the first fitting problem you would have. I don't know for sure, but I would say you are probably a large. Definitely call him just to make sure though.
Here's two pics of how my medium fits:
Again, I'm 5'9" and 130 pounds, and this is how a medium fits me.

Well, I'm 5'11 and probably should way 160 (but I'm actually about 115.....) and I was thinking that, minus the possibility of sleeves being too small, a small would fit me. However, the sleeves could work if the jacket hung on me due to my thin frame, but as you are rather normal for your height, I'd say that the sleeves may very well end up short on you. I honestly think you might be a medium, but I'd say a call to todd's would be in order.

Here's my experience with Todd's fitment...
I am 6'2", 185-190# and normally wear a 44L dinner jacket (off the rack).
My actual chest measurement is 43.5 (over a t-shirt with lungs full of air).
Shirt size is 15.5-36 (odd size by the way) I have long arms...
I ordered the XL jacket as it appeared from the Todd's site that I would be at the top of the fit chart, to give me the snugg 'fitted' look I love.
well, it was snug and fitted all right...
I am currently waiting on an XXL right now.
Basically, based on my experience, the size of the jacket is the bottom to middle of the size cahrt on the site. The XL is 42-44 (I think- from memory) but the actual size is probably 42-43 in reality. It fit on me, but was too snug to be "screen accurate" (or comfortable), so assume the Todd's sizing is favoring the lower end of the size chart.
I hope the XXL is not too big, but based on other member's photos wearing 'a size up' in the Todd's I have high expectations for it... I can always have it altered if nedded, as taking in is much easier than letting out material that is not there.
I hope this is helpful for you.

I know Todd states on his site to order your normal size regarding his items but I have always had to go to the next size. I had to reorder the shirt and web belt to get a better fit and ordered the jacket 1 size larger than I normally wear for a proper fit. I have his gun belt as well ordered from the specification on his website and it could probably move up another size to be SA but I can live with it.
My suggestion is to always move up 1 size from what his site states or attempt to email or call him and ask for a reccomendation.

I have (had - its on eBay now) a Large Todd's Standard, and it was too small for me.
I wear a 42 R in suit jacket, and a 44 Wested fits me perfectly, my tee shirts, polos, etc. are all size Large.
The Todd's jacket runs towards the smaller end of the size spectrum.
Wannabe, if I were you I'd get one size up from what you normally wear.

I have a Todd's standard in XXL, and it fits me very well. Just slightly snug, but comfortable. I was a little nervous about ordering that size, but it worked out well. The dimensions of the Todd's standard XXL are almost identical to the US Wings jacket I have in large. Weird how there's that much variance from one vendor to another.
By the way, I'm 5'10", around 220, and wear a 44 regular suit jacket.

It's like the Todd's OTR range wanted to max-out around 44"-46" making anything above that a $500 custom job and so called that "XXL" when, generally speaking, an XXL in most people's language is more like a 48"-50" or even a 50"-52".foddrill51 wrote:Weird how there's that much variance from one vendor to another.

Please let me know how it fits you as I also wear a 44L, I'm 6'3" 215 lbs. I wear a 16.5/34-35 shirt. I'm afraid it won't be long enough. Thanks J!mJ!m wrote:10-4 to that!
I ordered the XL, as I am about 44, and that BARELY fit...
I have an XXL on order, and I think that will be OK for me. I just hope I don't have to spend a ton having it tailored to fit properly!

I wear a 15.5-36 shirt, so you should be good in the sleeve... The XL was OK in the sleeve, if you're an inch shorter in the sleeve that would be fine. My biggest problem was in the body length- which would be a bigger problem for you. Note the sleeves CAN be let out a bit if needed...
The body SHOULD be good on the XXL, based on the *interpretation* of how sizing works there at Todd's...
I have to check and see if it is still B/O or not right now...

I've ordered a couple of things from Todd, and as long as they're in stock, they show up pretty quick. My jacket took 5 days to get here once it was shipped, but there was a weekend in there, and I never expect a package to travel far over a weekend.wannabe wrote:Hmm quite a variety, I will give Todd a call, I think that is my best bet just to get it from the horse's mouth. What is the wait time for his jackets?

OK!
adding a bit to this...
I received my Todd's XXL and threw it on quickly.
Initial impression is that the sleeves and chest are quite good for me, as expected.
Unfortunately, it seems the body length is a bit short for me... I have to try it again tonight, under "non-rushed" conditions, and see if I was wrong at first. The front may be OK; however the back panel seems to be too short.
The biggest problem I see is that the back is about an inch shorter than the sides/front. I hear this is normal; however it looks quite weird at the side vents where you can clearly see this problem. It is not something I recall seeing on-screen at any point, but I will review my photo collection again to be sure.
I will start a new post (or add to my old XL sizing one) with a full set of actual jacket measurements for everyone's benefit.
If this fit is still not right, I will have to send this back and have Peter make me a custom... That sort of blows the budget, as I wanted the "cheap" Todd's for distresing / costume use and a more durable hide in a Wested for every-day adventure. Now I have to re-think this again!
