What do you think of this...

Post by MustangLoverMex »

Hello again COW'ers!
Last saturday I went to a "flea market" in here and suddenly appeared in front of me some kind of Fedora. It was made by the famous trademark (at least is famous in Mexico) called "Tardan", and what I liked the best is the fact that this hat was actually made in Mexico in the 30's or 40's!.
Its 100% rabbit fur of very good quality and it seemed in very nice condition.
Here is how I got it:

So basically, because I didn't knew the antecedents of the hat, I went to a hat-maker and sent it to wash and re-block it. (The block wasn't a perfect "Indy block" but it was pretty good):

Finally I bash it with the Raiders look, and well... here is the result:

The best part of it, is that the hat cost me $450 pesos! (About $42 USD) :wink:

So... What do you think? :D

Best Regards,
-Alfonso :D

That looks like a very good find! Especially for that price!
I like that colour, it´s seems to be a bit like the Federation Dark Brown.

Congratulations on your new hat!

Great find Alfonso. Los sombreros antiguos son superior a casi todos los nuevos. Lo que tienes en tus manos probablemente es mejor que practicamente todos los sombreros hecho hoy en dia, menos algo como el Penman or AB.

Hey COW'ers! Thanks for your comments!

@Tremolo: Indeed the color of the hat is some kind of Olive Green and the brim has the same lenght in all directions (it's more or less the lenght of the sides of an Akubra) and the ribbon it's more width.
And yes, I think it was a very good price! :wink:

@DR Ulloa: Muchas gracias my friend! I think the same. What came to my attention was the fact that it's incredibly easy to bash! Saludos!

@Mitch LaRue: Thanks :D
And yes, I was lucky! It was exactly my size :D

@Niob: Yep, It was a great deal :wink:

@Indiana Strones: Thanks my friend!

@Indiana Bogart: Gracias! :)

Best Regards,
-Alfonso
