I know the board member who sold it to him and Adam is a member of the RPF.
Yes. I'm pretty sure I saw he also just purchased a whip from another member as well. Good on ya', Adam. He's got the bug.

I know he has a big 10' or so whip they used on one episode. I just assumed it was his. I don't recall if it was accurate Indy or not.

Here's the mystery cleared up....
I PM'd him on the RPF..
This is from the man himself..

It's a (drumroll) AB. Perfectly sized for me, getting it was a real coup. Bought it on the RPF a while back and it's a freaking magnificent and well made hat. It's worth every penny. Not for every day use, though I know it could handle it, my Knudsen Hat Co, Fistful of Dollars Eastwood replica is my regular abuse hat.
And as for the jacket, of course it's off, it's the leather jacket I've been wearing on the show for 6 years. (Wilson's Leather Rogue btw)
Funny to look at the discussion though, and it's food for thought for every discussion board trying to guess something: many people said "I think" and "Maybe it could be" but just as many were saying conclusively (on pretty scant evidence I might add) that they KNEW what it was.
Just funny to see clearly that opinions need to be taken with a grain of salt.
Cheers all, more Indy stuff in the future if I have anything to say about it (and I do).

Well, there ya go....
What a LEGEND this guy is...He doesn't know me from a "bar of saop" , and yet he got back to me in less that a day

That was very nice of Adam to take his time to write a fairly lengthy reply. I guess that settles it; its an AB.

Oh, absolutely! He's just a regular guy who has managed to turn his talents and abilities into a rather successful career. There is a series of videos on You Tube (12 total, about 5 minutes each) of Adam at the Last Hope Conference from July of this year in which he speaks about his obsessive nature and, by way of example, his quest to create an accurate Dodo Bird skeleton and the ultimate replica of the Maltese Falcon. Here's number one, just to whet your appetite (the rest are accessible under "Related Videos"):

Interesting, fascinating, and definitely worth watching if you're an Adam Savage fan.

Ha, the thing with the Maltese Falcon is just hillarious... it shows me that he is one of us! Thank you Zombie Jones for that interesting video. ;)
I can't wait to see Adam's new AB in at least some episodes... Come on Adam, that hat was made for daily wear and adventure. You just HAVE to wear it while blowing something up!

Money.

I was raising cash for a new PA for the band.

Well, I also got out of the habit of wearing a hat.

It is so cool that Adam is not only wearing an AB, but an AB that once belonged to one of us! 8)

Is it me, or does he look a LOT like Bink in a couple of those photos above.... hmmmmm.....

As for the RPF. Think COW, but it's Indy, Star Wars, Aliens, Predator, Star Trek, Rocketeer, Dr. Who..... any sci-fi/adventure type movie or tv show with cool "stuff" in it. People there have made anything and everything you could think of. It's a great forum.

I made this hat for a customer in the US several years ago. Just before shipping it he needed his money back, due to health problems. So I refunded him and took the hat with me to the European Summit in Hamburg where I met Peter and Pam the first time. Redbeard could hardly keep his hands off the hat and later on he actually won it in a tombola. Somewhere down the road, he ordered another one (as I had gotton the new felt with the built in water repellent) and sold this one to Al. Quite a bit of history on that particular hat.

If anyone has contact to Adam, please let me know. I’d like to refurb the hat for him.

Regards,

Marc

No wonder it has reverse taper in the sides- looks like a very round oval. :-k

You can't register all year round.
There'll be a period when registrations will be open.

Keep an eye of the website and I'm sure they'll let you know when it's registration season

He was registered here, but never posted, and when the time came to do the annual 0 poster purge, I never received a response from him regarding the situation.
Which is really too bad, but I suppose he has more in common with RPF then us, so between that and his is regular duties, you really can't blame him.
