Wested ROLA Special Offer Sizing Question
Hey everyone, this is my first post on here!
Anyways, I am 6' 1-2" tall and am about 200 pounds. I am thinking a size 44 L will work for me, and using measurements from jackets that fit me well, the sleeve length should be 26.75-27" and the back should be around 28". Do these measurements seem correct? Using your past experiences with Wested jackets, and judging from your size and how you jacket fits, etc...
Any help and advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi jnicktem, welcome to COW.
There have been questions about the ROLA Special a little while back in this thread: viewtopic.php?t=33496
I think some of the answers that I gave to Indiana Strones in that thread might be of some help to you. I know the first question is about shoulderpads, but halfway through the thread we discuss the size and fit aswell. if there are any questions after reading this I'll be glad to help you where I can.
Regards, Geert

First, welcome to the asylum!
IMO this extra stitching reinforces the attachment of the strap, but I don't think it's screen accurate (if that's a concern).
As far as sizing, I'm 6'1" and about 200 lbs., and I wear a 44L as well. The sleeves on my custom Wested are perfect for me at 26.5". Though I sent Wested a back measurement of 26", the back of the jacket I received measured 27.5"; at first it seemed a bit long but, in retrospect, I think the extra 1.5" is proportionally correct for the jacket. I probably could have gotten away with ordering an off-the-rack 44L, but the slight difference between my measurements and Wested's off-the-rack measurements were a concern. Besides, I wanted Novapelle, which is not currently offered in their off-the-rack jackets.
You have to remember everyone is built differently; you may have slightly longer arms or a slightly longer torso than I do even though we're nearly the same height and weight. Besides, the sleeve and back length measurements you posted are a closer match to Wested's 48L which, I think, would be too big for you. If you have any doubts, the best thing to do would be to get measured by a professional, just to be sure. Or, if you can afford to do so, send Wested your measurements and order a custom-made jacket.
Whatever you decide, be sure to let us know and, above all, post photos of your jacket when you receive it.
The "X Box" stitch refers to the stitching on the side straps, seen here:jnicktem wrote:I have another question, what is an X Box stitch, and should I get it?

Zombie Jones, thank you very much for all that info, that helps me out so much!
I looked at the sizing chart on Westeds' website, and although I believe that an off the rack 44L would fit, I fear it might be too tight or small. I want something that feels comfortable, but not too big. So I went a little bit bigger (not much...just some) with the sleeve and back lengths (I also don't want the jacket as short in the back as I have seen them...).
Also, I just really don't want to have to send it back. That would **** with shipping costs and having it leave my hands so early!
Thanks again!

As stated in the thread you read, a ROLA Special is an 80's fit: this means you only have 2 inches of extra room to move in in stead of the 4 inches a standard Off-the-rack has. This means it is important that you measure your chest and base the sizing on that. The ROLA Specials are a bit longer than a normal "long" in the back so it should easily fit your frame, but getting it around your chest is something you must take into consideration as the slim-fit of an 80's fit doesn't leave you with much room for error.
On he x box stitch: it is a standard feature on a ROLA Special and as far as I know it is SA for Raiders.
