Hat lining in the CS hat?

Post by MustangLoverMex »

Hello COW'ers!
The other day I was thinking... the Regular and Deluxe AB's has in the lining the "picture" of the Headpice to the staff of Ra (one in gold and the other one in gold and red), but does anyone knows if the hats made for the production of IJ and the KOTCS had the same logos? or what was inside of them?
Thanks for your answers and may the force be with you

I believe that I read somewhere that they changed the design, as it would look tacky (my own word) to the film people...

I am not sure what the design was, but I am pretty sure it didn't have the staff of Ra.

The liners in the movie hats were white, with no logos whatsoever. They did dye some of the liners a little to lessen the stark white, but again, the liners themselves were blank.

Unless my eyes deceived me, I think one Ra lining made it in. I recall catching a glimpse of a liner that was clearly died a yellowish tan color, and seemed to have a circular "impression" where the Ra logo normally is. I'll be checking again when the DVD comes out, but it's not unreasonable to think that one hat with a logo made it into the film. Maybe it was that wider-brimmed sample hat that Steve mentioned. :-k

Best Regards and thanks for your answers!

Yep, and like you I can't remember where it's at, but I've seen stills with the hat at an angle on Ford's head, and you can clearly see the headpiece inside..

Maybe the rocket sled shot? I'm not sure, but I've seen it too!

This is interesting indeed. I love the staff of Ra logo!

What do they currently use in the AB and ABD's? The gold logo I thought?

They're making all our hats. I'd love to get my hat as soon as possible, but the AB boys need should find time to visit COW more often, though it means putting the hats on hold for a little while.

They're now using the Aztec pyramid logo that you see on their websites. The Staff of Ra liners are no longer available.

All regular production hats had a plain white liner. But, a sample hat accidently made it into the film, with the staff of ra headpiece on the liner. That hat now resides with a collector.

Bernie had the liners colored for filming as he was afraid the white would not film well. They used hair dye. The spray on kind, or so I was told.

They even put fake sweat stains on some of the liners, at Western Costume.

Bernie ordered way too many hats by the way. He told me there was enough left to make another Indy film. He just ordered 3 from me yesterday, and said he did not know why he did not grab one of the film hats that was never used, but he did not do so. He ordered all 3 in Harrison's size by the way. He wanted them off the same wood block as we used for Harrison. That was a 7 3/8 sized block, by the way. Fedora

Sigh... If I had the money, I would order a couple of hats made with the same block used for the Harrison's Hats too....
Sadly my wallet isn't heavy at all... :(
The good news: I'll have an AB that would fit my head in a couple of months!!!! :D :D :D

I was reading the info in the main page:
http://www.indygear.com/igABstory.html
And I  , because of this:
"The film hat has plain white liners and a chocolate sweat. I had to order the sweats in that color and will use this color from here on out instead of the antique roan." —Steve Delk

I know the sled shot shows the gold writing on the sweatband. So, maybe it was during that scene.

At least we have confirmation from the man himself. Thanks, Fedora!
