Caicedo whip has arrived! - Photos

Post by Raider S »

I ordered this from Gus a couple months ago and it arrived yesterday. Gus has been a great guy to do business with and since I was in no hurry, the wait was fine. This is an 8 footer and I believe it's Gus's newer design and slightly darker color than his earlier ones.

Haven't spent much time with it, but it looks great. I've attached two photos to show the color in shade and two photos in sunlight. (The holder is a Wadeventure.)

Congrats on your new whip! I have a Caciedo whip and I love it. And just wait until it gets broken in! Gus really is a great guy, and is great to work with....and his work (and price) is great!

Its not too hard. Maybe at first, but thats more so because of the stiffness of the new leather, etc. I actually talked to Gus right after I got mine and he said that for the first few days to just go out with it and "swing" it. Basically, just do all the motions with it that you would to crack it without actually cracking it. And just get used to the feel of it. Then after a few days, when its not so stiff, then start cracking! :whip:

Gus uses cowhide on his whips correct?

It looks fantastic and cowhide can take a little more effort to get a crack out of it at first!

How many plaits? and is that the latest natural or the dark version? Just wondering since I recently ordered one myself.

That thing's a beaut. I'll definitely be placing an order w/ Gus for a whip after Christmas.

Great looking whip you have there. I love my Caicedo whip. I have had it two or three weeks and it has loosened up quite a bit but still could loosen up some more. My whip appears to be a little lighter in color than yours. I haven't used it in a week becuase I need to buy some Pecards. My fall is starting to show some wear and dry out a bit.

this looks like a good time to make my first post.

I received my Caicedo whip saturday and I love it.. It's an 8' 12 plait. It's the first good whip i've owned/used. I can't think of a better whip for the money.

Mine arrived a couple of days ago. Once I've had a few days to break it in and play with it I'll post some photos and more info. So far I'm really liking this whip.
