how do you store your whips?

What is the best way to store whips? i was thinking about
getting a whip bag from peter jack but is that the best way?
what is the best way to store a lot of whips?

Last week I bought a Wilson tennis racquet bag. It even has a little mesh zipper pocket for my falls/crackers. Price was about $15. Before hand I was storing them on my whip stand, but that makes carrying them out the car a bit difficult.

In this picture you can see my whip bag:

That's a Wilson, "US OPEN", 8-Pack Tennis Bag. It has two large compartments for whip storage. Two side pockets to store spare falls, crackers, utility knife, pliers, t-shirts, etc. One water bottle pocket on the side. A small pocket on the top to carry a cell phone, but I put my maintenance kit in there. Plus a zippered storage compartmetn underneath, where I store gunbelts, whip holders, saddle soap, gloves, etc. Plus it has a shoulder strap with optional straps that pull out to carry out just like a backpack.

I can hold about 20 whips in that bag. Wilson has smaller sizes; the six-pack, 4-pack and 2-pack. This was their biggest.

I searched long and hard last year to get what I wanted. It looks like my bag was discontinued. It looked like this:

I bought the electric blue, Wilson US OPen 2000, 8-pack Tennis bag. What you displayed previously is similar but different. What was key to me:
- two main compartments for whip storage
- the main compartments didn't slope too much in the tennis handle area
- two medium sized compartments on the side to store; t-shirts, clean rags, pecards, falls, crackers, fid, utilitiy knife
- separate water bottle pocket
- underneath zippered storage to store belts, gloves, saddle soap

You get the picture. I have close to 30 whips now, so I needed a huge bag. You don't have to get an 8-packer or 6-packer. I think the key to an excellent whip bag is to have storage for your whips, but many side pockets that are big enough to carry the stuff you need when you are cracking. Also having a handy place for a water bottle you can immediately find is a huge plus.

Good Luck. I was really picky. This was like my 4th bag, that I finally decided to buy. I got the idea of using tennis bags, since the WSP whip bags looked real close to a tennis bag. From there I just went to the super big, sports stores to shop what I wanted.

Well I live in a very dry climate. So that is not an issue for me. The zipper enclosures are not that air tight. But, you can throw in selica gel or what I heard people use, is putting kitty litter in a sock. That would absorb moisture as well.

Nope. I looked on the net just now and can't seem to find it at Wilsons.com or Target.com or even Walmart.com
It was just a normal $15 tennis bag that comes in black or red.

That's a great idea for a whip bag, Sergei! Do you actually keep your whips stored in the bag when not in use or is the bag mostly for carrying your whips to events?

While we're on the topic, what's the best thing to do for longer-term storage? I'm sure I'll be seeing snow within a month or two and, when it comes, I'll be putting my whip away for several months until spring. I assume hanging it vertically is best but would it be okay to hang it in a coil for that long? I don't imagine it would be good to keep a whip coiled in a bag for that long.

Any thoughts/comments are appreciated.
