My Wested, Chestnut hide (pics!)

Post by Weston »

I really haven't shown off this jacket yet. I posted a pic of it around the beginning of the year, but is was poor, the color way off. These aren't spectacular, but at least you can see how it looks when worn.

It is a Wested Raiders style in pre-distressed cowhide, made in 2000. I don't see to many of these on the forum. When I ordered it, Peter told me it was his "Chestnut" hide. I think I still have the order slip with this written on it somewhere.

It is a very thin hide, but HEAVY! It was getting a bit dry so I worked leather dressing into it after I took these pics. As I did I noticed scars, and can remember what I was doing and when it happened; which barbed wire fence scored a furrow under the left arm, the welding burn on the right arm, and so on all attached to different events.

I also found a renewed appreciation for the craftsmanship. Impeccable stitching on this one! If any one else has one of these, please, let's see them!

Besides arguing over details, that jacket looks like "Indy"! A truely adventure worthy jacket.

Let me know if you want to sell it!!!!!

Cool jacket with some nice honest looking wear on it.

Just look at the narrowness of that yoke ;).

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about. Natural 'distressing' all the way, as each mark is its own story.
:D
HIGH regards! Michaelson

I'm glad you guys like it, I sure do! I would like to get some pics of it out in the sunlight sometime. It has a really rich color that isn't showing up very well in these pics.

Weston, I don't know how you do it, but your gear always looks so dang cool. Indy, himself, would be jealous of your gear's look.

That's some awesome looking leather! I don't know how it looked right out of the box, but it looks really "mellow with age" now.

Lovely looking jacket, Weston. I had one like it. Even though the details are wrong - it comes together, except for the wide wind flap.

Fantastic jacket Weston! One of the great things about these jackets is the fact that, like an old pair of boots, the more worn and weathered they are, the better they look.
