I had bought a Todd's custom on clearance. The only problem was the sleeves were a little bigger than his new design (although to be honest, when I compared it with another custom, I couldn't tell much of a difference). But I just didn't like it. I didn't like the look of the leather than much nor the feel. I tried to sell the jacket, but those that wanted to buy it ran into sizing issues.
So I decided that, even though I would count myself in the natural distressing camp, to beat the heck out of it just to have the experience. First, I scuffed it with sandpaper while wearing it, going for a "less is more" approach although I did get a little carried away on the sleeves. Then I drug it behind a four wheeler for about a tenth of a mile over rocky terrain. Next, came a wash in a front loading washer, cold/cold, and medium spin. I air dried it and then applied a thin coat of Pecards. This took out some of the distressing but really gave it a nice grain overall.
The pictures don't really do the finished jacket justice in showing the difference. I really love the feel and color of this jacket now. It's went from being my least favorites toward the top of the list.

And yes, I know I have lovely toes.

Dang, that's a big difference. I thought it looked pretty good before, but the after shots look fantastic. Not overdone which I like. Some folks just go so overboard in distressing that it looks a bit fake...but this turned out really nice. Good job, and I'm glad you're happier than before with this jacket.
