need your thought on the length

Post by Holt »

Hi.

I have asked about this before..but I keep thinking about it all the time that it feels a little short...

this is a HH regular size 44 with standard back length of the 25.5''

maby it has to do with that I am used to a softer hide like lamb...

but what do you think?

is it short or does it have the right length for me??

I like the length. From the back, it looks like it sits an inch below your back pocket, which I think is perfect for the LC look. Any longer and you get into CS territory. The pockets are placed fairly high, which may make it look/feel shorter, but from these and earlier pictures, I still it's fine. I've got another lamb on the way already, btw. Dark brown this time, and I made sure to ask for smaller pocket flaps!

thanks.

yes the pockets are high..but archive jacket acurrate...

it kinda feels good in the front...but its the back I am concerned about..

thats where I feel it is kinda little short...

maby it has to do with the stiffer HH which hasnt really broken all that much back there...

I really think that it's a good length. It hits you right about where Indy's hit him in the movie.

what also bugs me is that with lots of wear I tend to think that it will shrink in length....I really hope it doesnt....

I know,I know,...I think to much..

I think you once told me not to worry about the little things, Holt! :)
You should take your own advice, the jacket looks great. The outdoor beach pics showed it was the ideal length. I've never had horsehide, but being so sturdy I didn't think it was likely to shrink or ride up with wear.
It's a bizarre addiction though, isn't it? The quest for the perfect jacket.
5 months ago, I bought a Todds Standard for a costume party, and now I have two Westeds and a third on the way! Why do we do it? :)

I think it looks good but I would go 1" longer in the back.
All of my leather jackets, after they break in, get longer in the front and shorter in the back due to the shoulders forming to your body and sagging forward a little.
An extra inch in the back makes up for that.
Just a thought.

Depending on the movie you want to emulate, this thread may be of some help... ;)

Need to see it with poper Indy gear. Maybe an inch too short. But it looks good regardless. I wish Peter would stick to this design when he makes more LC jackets. None of his ones look right.

I like it and I think it looks fine, I know you have had it for sale for awhile, but I think if you sell it you might look back at the pictures and regret it later. Horsehide does take awhile to soften my a-2 from wings took 2 years and my new A-2 I got for Christmas well it'll take even longer.Just give it time.Good luck.

hey Holt, just my 2 cents but i think it is about an inch or two too short.. is that how high you wear your pants daily?
i wear my pants on my hips but throughout the day they lower sometimes.. and for SA i think Ford's pants didnt alwayhs stay at his hips.. ya know what im sayin? but you know more SA then i so again, just my 2 cents!

I think it might be just a tad short, try it on with SA trousers. One thing I noticed is that the jacket usually just covered Ford's pocket flaps, but of course that also depends on where Ford was wearing his pants that day, but anyway thats what I look for.

yeah... I second that. I think it looks a bit short in the body for an SA look. BUT... it looks good on YOU :)

Holt.

The length is perfect. Looks great on you. I have one of Peter's LC jackets in HH as well. Keep yours for the hide alone, it's great. I would never sell mine.

Wear it this winter and let's see updated pics in the Spring 8)
