Man, I LOVE my JPD! It is absolutely the best fedora I have ever had, and I would recommend it to anyone. As to why you can't place an order online, I can only suspect the Lucasfilm heavies on that one. His phone number is on his site, so give him a call. Just a word of advise; don't take a delivery date too seriously. These are handmade hats, and well worth the wait. Here's mine

Dave, Valentine, thank you both. I realize that this hat would yield a terrific Raider's sharp, boxy crease, but just because you can do a thing does not mean that you must. I went with something that I thought looked better on me, and that razor sharp Raiders's crease is a one way trip. It will never come out if you desire a different look down the road. My hat is made from Cury felt. Jimmy also offers it in Winchester and pure beaver felt, both of which are great, but I think the beaver is the most coveted. Here's one of this hat less than 24 hours old and not yet aquainted with the rigors of adventure.

Actually, there are a few reasons and they have nothing to do with Lucas film. First, I live in the country, 6 miles to the nearest small town and a half hour drive to the nearest town with reliable Internet service. So rather than having people send me online orders that I never got, I would rather have flphone calls.
Second, I am set up to take credit cards over the phone. On online orders you generally have to email back and forth for weeks to finalize details and then they still have to call me to give payment. With one tenminute phone call all those details can be ironed out and payment taken.
Third, I am somewhat of an intuitive person and learn somthing about a person when I talk to them. I can make a hat closer to what someone wants if we talk about it on the phone. When in college I was a theatre major and worked often with people with no theater experience, or who had learned things differently. I learned to communicate with these people and be able to ask question that lead me to figure out what the wanted. I have had people remark that they have no idea how I could have made the hat they waned from the short conversation we had, but it turned out just what they wanted, or better. I can not fully explain it myself.
So, that is why I prefer phone calls. I don't mind email orders, I just work better with phone calls.

As a proud owner of a beaver felt JPD in a raiders style, I've would highly recommend Jimmy's hats. I don't have much long-term experience with hats in general (i've had this one since may?) but so far this thing has been bulletproof.
I like it so much, I'm thinking about asking Jimmy to make one in the KOTCS style. You can't go wrong. The beaver is definitely more expensive than the rabbit, or a Fed IV even, but for a custom made hat, I think it's a steal.
If you scroll down about 2/3rds of the way, I posted links to pictures of my hat.
