Carbon Grey Fed IV
Does anybody have a Carbon Grey Federation IV? If so could you please post some pics. I'm thinking about getting one but would like to get some pictures from someone who has one.
Thanks,

I've had my carbon grey for about 2 months now. Great hat! I found mine to not be overly dark. More of a medium grey. Here's a photo with it next to my brown Fed 4.

Same hats a few days earlier in direct sunlight

I have to agree with IndianaBogart. I think the carbon gray looks much more like the clipper hat than moonstone would. To my eye, moonstone looks like the travelling hat from KotCS, which appears much lighter than the clipper hat from Raiders.
I have a Stetson Temple in a caribou color, which looks similar to moonstone, and it's just not as dark as the clipper hat looks on screen.

If you ever see carbon gray in person, you will think it is very far from the clipper gray! It is much darker, and darker than the photos posted here show. I wish I could find my pics of the one I used to have. They were very true to color.
The moonstone would be closest to the clipper hat out of all the Akubra colors. That's the only claim that can be made without assuming facts not in evidence (and possibly existence at this point).

Can't really comment on past incarnations of the carbon greys but the photo posted is pretty accurate to actual color for a June 2008 Fed IV. These aren't charcoal grey. Nearest I can find is Pantone shade 432C. 31% black, 19% reflex blue, and 50% white.Chewbacca Jones wrote: It is much darker, and darker than the photos posted here show. Obviously environment will strongly impact the perceived color. Note on my earlier post that the same two hats were shot a few days apart -- once in direct sunlight and then again out of the sun.
I second that.Chewbacca Jones wrote:If you ever see carbon gray in person, you will think it is very far from the clipper gray! It is much darker, and darker than the photos posted here show. I wish I could find my pics of the one I used to have. They were very true to color.
