Visual error, G&B is still #1!!
Has anyone else noticed the G&B expo's have a major inconsistency with their side straps?? Some seem to be very long and sloppy/floppy and others seem too short. I had to send my original seal brown expo back to have the back panel fix, as it was miss aligned. They sent me a new jacket, but failed to make the side straps longer per my request. Kind of annoying considering they're worth todays average car payment.

All of mine have been identical (except for a deerskin prototype) and I've had 10 (not including the deerskin prototype). Longer side straps makes the jacket custom, which you won't get out of G&B.
Not too long ago someone posted pictures of their new G&B expedition and everyone commented about how the side straps were attached unevenly. The guy sent it back and they fixed it or gave him another (I can't remember). I've never owned one but I'd say that these problems are a recent thing, I don't recall many quality related complaints about the expeditions in the past few years.

TheMechanic's jacket seems to have much longer side straps, and the same with robocopindy's. It could be preception, or the fact that I run mine back rectangles in the stlye that Rundquist does. By the way Rundquist mine look exactly the same length as yours do on most of your jackets.... Yet another scenario is that the straps are pulled tighter, and making them look longer. I do wear mine fairly loose.... I will measure the strap length to see what I get. PLEASE don't get me wrong people, I adore this jacket's fit, feel and durablity. As far as the custom work is concerned the color leather and silver hardware were custom, and the jacket is non-returnable anyway....
I would still recommend G&B to anyone in the market, as it is the real deal as far as true adventure jackets go. It will take a beating!!

I handled 3 G&Bs, 1 44T black goat reference jacket and 2 dark seal goats in 44R and 44T, and all had identical straps in length and placement.Bowie wrote:TheMechanic's jacket seems to have much longer side straps, and the same with robocopindy's. My side straps may look longer because I have them cinched down almost all the way. Also, there are several scenes in 'Raiders' where Indy's zipper is brass color. Check the scene in Jocks plane.
Apparently according to lore, the costumer painted the zippers with gold paint and it wore off but it can be seen here and there.

yep the cinching down looks like what I was seeing..... Thanks for helping me clear up Gents!! Whew, now I can sleep tonight. Seriously, I was getting a little obsessive about that one..... Mechanic I appreciate you weighing in, an confirming my suspicions.
Again, I do not regret gettibg the G&B one bit, and I am glad to see they maintain consistency & quality control!! Thread title adjusted accordingly
Thanks again All!!!
Best regards

I too believe Mechanic is correct.... I remember reading that the zipper was aluminum painted brass for certain scenes....CM wrote:I'm with you Mechanic. I've seen it as brass at various points too.TheMechanic wrote:There's other scenes too where it looks brass color. I just didn't have screen caps. I won't say any more about it though 'cause I don't want to start a war.
Cheers
