A tale of two jackets

Post by alphared6 »

New to all this I bought two jackets based on insufficient research. I have three jackets, the most recent I got on eBay and appears to be, based on what I read here, one of those lottery jackets. It has the big leather patch on the inside back with "Indiana Jones" embroidered into it. The other I bought from a very shadowy company called California Leather (anyone ever hear of it?). Seems this company in if the UAE! The goat leather is good quality, I love the dark brown color, however the liner (of both jackets) is nylon which I object to as there was very little nylon is use in the early 1930's. The CL jacket has three problems: One, I feel it is too short in the body. It's the same length as an A-2 flight jacket. India's jackets are longer. Also, and this is a biggie. The two rear vents are not present! The seams are there but sewn together! And there are no hand warmer pockets (which I don't mind at all).
The company is quite honest. The first one arrived here and was too small. I notified them and they dispatched a larger jacket to me the same day and I no doubt received it before they got the small one back!

The third jacket I've had the longest, but ... that's another post.

Welcome!

Especially the California Leather one. We know about the lottery jacket, it appears to be a exact rip off of the Wings standard jacket, right down to the pattern of the liner, it has the same fluted back panel.

Okay ... OK ... I'll dig out the old digital camera and snap a few pix. Please understand that my digital camera came into my possession in 1976, it was given to me by a Mayan Indian with a really long head!

Not bad...judging from the pic, it's a pretty decent replica. Kind of hard to see with the glare and distance, but looks like a great jacket. :junior: -M
