crystal skull 405's

Post by Indiana G »

when i first saw indy's boots in CS i thought they looked extremely light in color....almost caramelly if you look at them as a whole. if you look close of course you will realize that they are the raider brown boots thats had the #### kicked out of them. everywhere that is exposed outside the pant leg has been worn/distressed so that you see the sueddy leather beneath the dye.

i asked, why doesn't anyone make a nice caramelly boot in suede......then kittlemeir answered the $508 question.....leathersoulhawaii.com.

i guess i owe yah kittlemeir....thank you sir :D

Image

i think if you're looking for the CS look as in these pics below, you can't go wrong with these boots  there also nice if you want to pretend that there's a nice layer of tunisian sand on the raider brown boots (that are impossible to get).

G, I think they are great! I really envy you in that you're able to try such a different veriety of gear. Those will look way better after you get 'em beat up a bit too.

that's of course including shipping and the $18 hit for customs/duty. the website has a picture of these and they look almost white  ...but i took the chance and i'm very ecstatic about the colour.

tom park was great to deal with and he gets some really nice shoes in his shop, not just aldens. his cigar shell cordovans (as some of you know) cannot be purchased online so you'll have to include a return ticket to hawaii in the price if you want those babies. some japanese businessmen have actually done that just to have a pair.

Very Handsome, indeed. Pricey, but just this morning I recieved a menswear catalogue with Alden Cordovan Penny Loafers featured at $540. Not for the Walmart shopper.

No offense but these LOOK nothing like the cs boots, you're mistaking dirt and scuffing for a caramel colour the CS boots where a pumkin orange colour but really scuffed up.

Imo nothing a like.

Pumpkin Orange? I doubt that, unless you have a good picture showing it perhaps? and, I know they were offered in a color close to that description at one time, I just doubt those were the ones used in this movie. I do agree they were just really scuffed up regular 405s though. I'm sure G knew that too, but was simply going with something a little different that has a strong resemblance to the screen used boots.

Yeah, if I'm not mistaken the pumpkin orange was a mistake in leather sourcing that was resolved years ago. Not something that would likely to be found around the time they were getting boots for CS.

you beat me to the punch doug

well, if you want a more SA alternative, you can take some AF64's, resole them to get rid of the lug sole and then distress them with sandpaper.....or do that with the AB aldens.....that's a pretty premium boot to do distressing on imo. why not get caramelly suede?

the base of ford's boot were definitely not the pumpkin variety. all movies had this shade of brown with raiders being the darkest (aside from the studio shooting of LC). i'm assuming the movie boots came from the archives or they did some serious dying on current boots.

Oh, and in that picture he's got the rare Black MkVIII bag on!

Those shoes look pretty dark back where they're not distressed - what a great color!

I wonder what Ford was listening to in the Black mkVII shot? He should do an iTunes Celebrity Playlist.

I wouldn't say they were pumpkin.

Is this the photo of the supposed black MArkVII?

http://www.theraider.net/showimage.php? ... /mo_09.jpg

The black bag that I see in on the chair. I only see the strap on Harrison, not the MarkVII bag.

Where am I missing it?

I see that "Han shot First" shirt on Lucas in that photo - and I wonder why he changed the scene in the re-scrubbed Star Wars to have Greedo shoot first. That made me unable to tolerate the re-release of ANH.

I too, love that shirt though.

Oh, you and me both!

Han was a "scoundrel" and if he didn't shoot first, he'd be dead!

lame change to a great movie...

That black bag is the 'sound man/person's' bag. Note headset. They are used by sound crews all the time. W>

WConly,

I have to chime in here. That is not a soundperson's bag. It is a set chair bag snapped around the arm of a set chair. It is used to put scripts, water, mobile phones, etc into when you are sitting there. The three snaps are there to attach the bag to the chair itself. The headphones are attached to a receiver for the director/produer/lead actors/script supervisors/ to listen to the dialogue with when listening to a take during playback or when a scene is being shot. Those were probably Ford's to listen to during playback.

How am I aware of this -- I am a stunt performer (albeit now a broken one since my accident on set in July) and have a few set chairs and chair bags - I can always post pics of the black bag and it's use.

A sound guy would be in a lot of trouble leaving his gear on the chair of a lead actor - and they never leave their gack alone.

The woman in the picture with the camera I believe is Kathleen Kennedy. I worked with her on the film Snow Falling on Cedars a number of years ago when I did the fight choreography and kendo training for the film. It was amazing working so close with her and Frank Marshall.

Cheers

Thanks for asking,

I am in the middle of dealing with Worksafe --- a government agency in Canada that deals with injured workers, and it is very slow getting things done. I never realized how much I took my mobility forgranted until now. Since it was my right foot that was injured, I can't drive anywhere. I have to rely on friends and others for help --- it's very humbling. I go to the Ortho on Aug 27th for another look at the leg and I hope there will be no surgery on the leg [-o<

I know that he is not a Fan, and he doesn't care, but wouldn't he ask "what does it Han shot first?" to GL. I would like to know what GL had said and the reaction of HF on that..
