Wooden hat flange/brim block question

Post by rbinko2001 »

For you hatmakers out there, what size wooden hat flange, or brim block would be needed to curl up the brim on an Indy style fedora? I am going to order one online and they come in various sizes. I know the Indy brim was around 2 3/4, but what size hat flange would I need to give it that nice curl? Any help would greatly appreciated.

Thanks

We made our own out of cherry. I made it 1/8 bigger than the block and then went 3 inches out from that and ground it down an inch all the way around.

Hope that helps a little
