Star Wars Wested?

Post by Indiana Strones »

I read in the Wested website that they made costumes for Star Wars, original trilogy and new series. Have you any further info about this? Just curious.

I believe I read somewhere that they made the boots and various leather gear, like Captain Panaka's leather vest for example:

From what I recall they did some of the pliots jumpsuits in the original trilogy too.

They have some left over Naboo guard 'armour' in the shop, in grey and in the orange.

I saw the one with "bars" on it in their shop back in 2004, so yeah. ;)

Strones;
Please turn the picture into a link instead as it is too big. Thanks. ;)

You know, I wonder if Wested would ever consider making these available for sale? Would make for the ultimate Star-Wars-Background-Character costume! ;)

I'd love a decent Han Solo Bespin jacket to be available.
So many of them seem cheap and nasty or ridiculously over priced.

I am with you Neolithic. I would love a Han Solo Bespin jacket as well. The best one I have ever seen is way over priced IMHO. Link below.

I'm sorry but, to me, that's one ugly jacket.....too many of the same pockets in front!.......I'll just keep my Indy jacket, thank you.

I'll have to agree with PSB on this one... When it comes to fantasy, sci-fi, and even in some cases, period films, what may look good on screen against a sea of similarly extravagent costumes will look simply too costumey for even occassional wear.

Which is why even though Han Solo is hands down the role I'll always remember Harrison Ford for, I know I'll never try to emulate those tight fitting striped pants, or that impractical but cool vest.

Interesting! For me, the "Bespin jacket" is the next one on my list,
and one I'd love to wear regularly. I've always thought it was a very
cool jacket. A season or two ago Old Navy actually carried a blue
jacket that was a little longer, and it had epaulets (sp?), but it had
four pockets on the front. I thought, wow that's cool, it reminds me
of Han Solo! Got it for my bro-in-law, and he loves it.

I agree the Dawn Anderson ready-to-wear is rather pricey, though the
product pictured on her site looks very professional. I'm thinking of
going the route of ordering the pattern, which I hear is very good, and
having it made. By careful choice of materials, this can serve as a
warmer weather jacket than my Wested. (I live in Sacramento, after all.)

When I was a kid, I had a blue Member's Only jacket that served as my
Han Solo jacket. I loved that jacket, and left it on the playground. Ah, the '80s.

Regards,
LC

Oh! BTW, when I first saw this post, I thought it was because someone finally discovered and posted the Star Wars crew jacket from Phantom Menace that looks soooo familiar.

When I was a little kid there was a Luke shirt like he wore on Bespin the Star Wars Fan Club was selling. It actually looked like a very nice shirt/jacket. Probably a ton of stuff one could have gotten then...

I had that very shirt/jacket. It was nice, but a thin lining would have helped because it seemed a bit unfinished inside. The material was great, though! They also made a Han vest and jacket. I had the vest, but I returned three of them before I got one that was put together right.

I think the Han jacket would look great in leather. Sort of an Indy jacket with a mandarin collar.

Oh GOD yeah!

The important thing to remember is that this jacket was DENIM. A good fabric store, a good tailor and a $20 Dawn Anderson pattern later should do the trick.

It was DENIM :?: I never knew that  I bought a close enough Han Solo Bespin outfit for Halloween about a year or two ago through a seller on eBay. I forget the store name but the name HAS popped up here a few times. I wore the Bespin jacket out a few times, back when I didnt care who to impress  The Solo shirts are insanely overpriced as well. I'd like to see a leather variation on the Bespin jacket as well.

Cross my heart.
Trouble is when we hear denim we think faded jeans, etc.

Well....it WAS the eighties   I never would have guessed denim...it doesn't really drape like denim. Hmm, I'm gonna have to watch ESB again now :)

Denim? What's the source for that? I'll see if I can find it, but I thought I read it was some kind of twill.

The Jacket

I just watched ESB. I guess it could have been denim, it's hard to tell. I do think it would look good in a dark denim, though I would prefer (and always imagined it to be) a lighter jacket.

Leather would look pretty good, too.

If that stuff was denim, then that breed of demin-beast must be extinct! The fabric felt much more like a very soft twill. Not even my better khaki's feel that soft. Sorry. No way that was denim. I can't believe that.

Ok, so since no one's actually responded to my post about this Star Wars Wested, I'll post pictures because I'm in desperate need of validation :)

Propstore of London is very reputable. I think it's a really cool crew jacket. And not that expensive! (although I'd rather have an Indy jacket)
